Can the Sky Q box be coded to also provide TV controls as per the current Sky+ HD box?
If so then are the codes the same?
I did have to build a driver for Control4 as some of the buttons are not there on the new Sky Remote that you can code to make work, stop for example. If so then are the codes the same?
The Sky Q remote can't control as much of the TV as the old HD remote, but it can turn on/off, volume and change input. Can also control a separate speaker like the old remote. The new remote doesn't have a TV button so you can't tell the remote to use all its commands on the TV sadly.
Been a while since I logged on so thought an update on my experience would be useful. We had Q installed several months ago with the Silver Hub and two Minis; one wired and one wireless. No problems with the wired Mini but constant problems with the wireless one. Line of sight wireless link was about 15ft.
Long story short the two Minis could not establish a reliable wireless connection so a booster was installed at installation to bridge the link. Weeks of unreliable signal, two Q engineer call outs, several calls and finally we had a senior Q engineer visit. Still couldn't solve wireless and found interference was the issue, however we couldn't diagnose the source of this. Eventually ran in a new cable from hub to Bedroom and we've had no problems. Whew....
We've overseen several Q installations for our clients and one of them had to be wireless, over much longer distances than I had issues with and no problems - so maybe I was unfortunate but I would always recommend a wired setup if you can.
Overall pleased with the service, took a while but didn't cost me a penny more and got there in the end. Love the new interface and wouldn't want to go back to the old.

Stupid question alert!
Right, my currently sky deals are all expired and I'm moving to Sky Q but I'm a bit confused after chatting to a chap in the office who is also getting Sky Q.
Current set up:
Kitchen / Sitting room - one HD box
Good room - one HD box
Kids playroom - Eye which shows whatever is on in the good room.
I pay for multiroom so I can watch football in the sitting room and the wife can watch something else in the good room.
I'm lead to believe I need a Q box plus 2 minis although I won't be able to watch my (live) football in the sitting room while the wife watches her (live) stuff in the good room or the kids watch their programmes in the play room.
Is this right or is he just as confused as me? Thanks.

He's wrong. At least with a Sky Q Silver box you can have the main box, 2 mini's and 2 mobile devices all watching live TV whilst also recording 3 other programmes, for a total of 8 live feeds at once.
Up to 2 mini boxes and you don't even need to think about the fact they're all being supplied from one box as they'll act exactly the same as if they're not, except they all share 1 planner.

It's 1 main, 2 mini, 2 tablet and 4 recordings, not 3. That'll be increased to 6 recordings in the new year with a software update.
You can also use Sky Go on 2 other devices if you need more!
I always thought it was 4 live feeds total for the box but you might be right it's 4 recordings and watch something live, I thought it was 4 recordings and watch something (off the harddrive) like the Sky HD advertising. You can also use Sky Go on 2 other devices if you need more!
How are they planning to increase the number of recordings? They'll have to make the tuners 'fluid' rather than have an assigned job as AFAIK they're all assigned already?
Had two weeks with our Sky Q installation now.
I absolutely love it.
Over the moon with it, and the other half is really pleased too.
Haven't really got any major issues or dislikes.
Yes it's different, but it's not exactly first world problems. I'd say I would struggle going back to Sky HD now.
Excellent stuff, gets my vote!
