How many of you Q users have BT Infinity, as opposed to Sky Fibre?

Just wondering what Q features/benefits you lose by being with BT.

The only thing you'd lose is the Q boxes working as WiFi hotspots.

Engineer here now, we have upgraded to two mini boxes however we have two feeds from the LNB and one isnt working -- TIP test it on BBC1 HD ---- so we are recabling one of the dish feeds.
Our wifi booster is now a SKY wifi booster and once he has finished the cabling I expect it to be first class.

And now they have turned it on officially, wifi hotspots using the built in Powerline technology. Even if you don't take the TV service, the Sky Q wifi booster uses Powerline.

Ok so we have 2TB working fine after a new cable routed from dish to box (1 of 2), 2 mini boxes and a SKY wifi booster and the house is covered pretty much perfectly.
The engineer has a wifi strength app and went around testing it identifying the requirement of the booster.
The touch remote and the GUI is in my opinion not as good as the old GUI but I am sure its a matter of getting used to it and the engineer advised using the ipad as a remote.
So far so very good

You can use the iPad as a remote? iPhone app doesn't seem to be able to.

GUI is massively improved but like you say probably takes getting used to.

Touch remote IMO is worth persevering with as it makes using it feel a lot more evolutionary and is quicker than the regular remote.

Not yet, but customisation is coming soon ...

And no, neither app can work as a remote.

Hmm guy told me it could (work as a remote) I was astonished they had 8 calls a day single crew inc fitting dishes!
He was with us for 3 hours, I bought him lunch !!
One downside is we used to have a box each individually now we share the recorded library and she is filling it with st already !!

I paused the TV and went to do some bits around the house.
It started playing automatically!!!

If I pause it now I get about 2 minutes before it starts playing again.

I'm about 1hr 10 behind live TV... is there some sort of limit?

Same as always there's a limit to live pause, if you'll be gone a while just put it on record.

My Sky HD box has pretty much given up the ghost. Sky engineer scheduled to come and take a look at it tomorrow.

Given that Sky has ditched HD boxes for new customers, will my faulty box be replaced with a Q version if the engineer fails to fix it?

Not without you signing up for Sky Q!

They still offer it as far as I know, but it's not advertised heavily, sort of like how they used to offer a Sky HD box without recording I believe. They'll also still have units to replace faulty ones. However where you own the box you'll most likely be charged for the box, so it might work out as a good time to upgrade anyway.

Recently it's started resuming auto-play after 20 minutes!!!!

So by the time we've done the washing up, dried it and put it away whatever movie or TV show we've been watching has started playing again.

In the past I swear that I have left it on Pause for hours at a time without issue.

:-(

You should be fine pausing a recording for a long time, eventually it reverts back to whatever live TV was last playing though, obviously if you're recording a film that is also on the channel you last watched it will look like it's skipped ahead.

Maybe some better discipline with it is needed? Everyone occasionally pops to do something that takes longer than they thought, but if I was going to do the washing up I'd probably switch the TV off?

Well Sky Q is certainly popular - just tried to upgrade via the website and it's quoting installation dates a month out.

I've got a question to ask to make sure I keep my F1 package when upgrading but the phone lines queue forever and even the on-line chat is reporting a 20 minute wait.

As an impulse upgrade I think the urge to upgrade will probably pass!

Go to the Sky website and sign in with your Sky ID (create one if you haven't already) and you can upgrade online. I did this on Tuesday and have an install date of February 1st thumbup
