I wasn't sure at first but wouldn't go back now, the ability to watch all over the house using the iPad for our two year old is a godsend.

Well Sky Q is certainly popular - just tried to upgrade via the website and it's quoting installation dates a month out.

I've got a question to ask to make sure I keep my F1 package when upgrading but the phone lines queue forever and even the on-line chat is reporting a 20 minute wait.

As an impulse upgrade I think the urge to upgrade will probably pass!
I was quoted a month, but soon received a text saying they could do it next week if I picked a day. Original date was 3rd Jan, but they did it before Christmas which means even with their Christmas holidays they can still be 3 weeks early..

I've kept the F1 (never had or will have any of the other sports channels), but got movies in the deal as well now. Paying less than before and got the install costs halved. 2tb box and slave for £100.

Upgrading will work out cheaper over the year and I can pause crap I'm not really interested in watching in the living room and pick it up at the same point in the bedroom.

Not as reliable as the 'cabled' Virgin
Most weeks some sort of reset is required to resolve stupid issues.

Not for everyone... Mine has had one reset since the last firmware update.

Quick question, if it already hasn't been covered I have scan the thread from the start.

Sky Q won't record using the catch up feature, everything else seems OK.

Have rebooted the main box but to no avail!

Ours has a few times but since the last software update seems to be OK. Only issue we have is sometimes when fast forwarding a program it won't stop and then goes back and forwards and is uncontrollable

Pressing update just re-loads the firmware if it's already on the current one, rather than telling you it's current btw.

SkyQ Silver box comes on with the video but doesn't show the planner. Small screen on the left. Just like a PIP.

Only way to fix this is to pull out the power.

Sky Mini crashes when the silver box gets and update. Have to reset it.

Feel like I am a beta tester!!

Quick question - looking to sign up to Skyq. Long time sky customer - has anyone managed reduced upfront costs for boxes or install?

Also does the initial package come with 1x1tb box and 1x mini

Thanks

You're better off paying slightly more and getting the 2Tb box - it's the only one which supports UHD and also supports more simultaneous devices.
If you want to use a mini, then you need to take the £12 a month multiroom add-on.

Yes-told them we were going to cancel and didn't pay anything up front and pay less now than we did with previous multiroom package. Got a 2tb box and two minis

hi - anyone having issues with the main box?

we are on our third one now due to the HD going which means all the recordings keep getting lost, which is incredibly frustrating given the idea that space is plentiful to enable lots of recordings...
the last box hasn't even lasted 8 weeks?!

I've had it for a few months now - the 2TB box. Not connected the mini box upstairs yet.

I really like the new interface and it's been reliable so far. There's a few things that annoy me though...

No button to go direct to the TV guide. Seems crazy not to include a 'guide' button somewhere on the remote.

No option to start a recorded programme from a desired point. You can only start from either the beginning or from where you last watched.

Not sure if it's just me but it seems to require much more of a programme to be downloaded before it can be viewed, whilst still downloading the rest.

Easy to get swipe up and swipe left/right mixed up on the trackpad. Maybe I just need more practice though?

I've no idea why you can no longer set reminders to watch things. Yes, I know you can record 15.4 channels and watch another 16 live but why remove such a simple function?

I'm sure that some features will be added in updates though and I'm not going to lose any sleep over the above.

They've said some customisation of the home page is coming soon -that may allow quicker access to the guide.
You can easily spin to a specific point in the recording - swipe up to bring up the time bar, then swipe & hold right/left to forward/rewind.

Reminders - that's an easy idea if you consider an isolated box.. However, it's how they're handled with multiple boxes/tablets which is the issue and may be why Sky haven't implemented them. For example,if I set a reminder at home via the tablet, should it appear on the main box, a mini, a tablet or all?
