Hi, if anyone is interested in joining Sky Q as a new customer there are some great discounts available.
Ignore the prices advertised on the internet and press. Call Sky direct and ask them for their best price on the package you are interested in.
I managed to get a 40% discount on the package I was after. After pushing them a little further they discounted it by ust over 50%.
Installation lead times are about 7 days.
Just thought someone may find this info useful.

Just got SkyQ installed and first thing I noticed that was missing was the ability to set a reminder. Seems stupid not to have it.
It's something that comes up a lot on Sky's forums.. It's not as straightforward as it appears though - where would the reminder appear? On all boxes, or just the one which set it? What if it was set on a tablet or phone, etc?rscott said:

Not sure where you mean?
On the home page is a segment that has recordings. Click on that and sub segments come up with one of them being scheduled recordings. Put them in there like in planner on Sky HD+. When you want to record just have a remind feature in the same place. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Smollet said:

But who would it remind, everyone? Pretty annoying if you're in the middle of a gripping film and a reminder pops up asking if you want to change channel to some cooking show your wife wants to watch, or a kids show your child upstairs has set.Reminders are completely redundant, and I can't imagine who uses them, just record it, watch it when you want not when it's on.
It's already annoying enough that if you're watching TV and someone on another box starts a download then it notifies EVERYONE that the download is ready to be viewed.
I imagine you're looking at the problem from a single 'user' point of view, not one where multiple people are using it for different reasons. To be honest the My Q part of the box is completely redundant based on this fact. They need user profiles that you switch between ideally.

Yes I am a single user so I'm not bothered by it as it suits if I'm watching something and forget there's a live sports event I want to watch. Up pops the reminder and off I go.
Sky Q is very solidly designed to be a multi-user experience, that's sort of it's USP to be honest.Digitalize said:

Then I remember people are stupid and need to be guided like sheep when it comes to anything remotely technical.
Working in ERP systems development for the past 20 years, you'd think I would have learnt by now...

I'm all for that, but I wish each user could set up their own protected folder for their own stuff. I don't want my recordings cluttered up with all my son's stuff, and he doesn't want to see mine. What if I wanted to record some late night erotic film and didn't want my 10 yr old with his own minibox in his room to see what I had recorded?
