We've had voice search for 4 weeks now, and it's very accurate in interpreting speech. I don't think it's ever got it wrong.
It doesn't support navigation commands at the moment, i.e. changing channels or turning off, but you can search for shows, channels, movies, actors etc and it displays the results in the usual search results screen.

I thought it was just a novelty at first, but I'm using it more often when searching for on demand content now.
If anyone wants info, let me know.
yes- how have you got it ?

At a guess, Sky staff.. they usually roll updates out to staff as the final beta test before release. There's no customer beta group (yet).

Have you tried getting in contact with sky to get a Q tech to your house? They have some impressive diagnostic and meshing software.

I'm thinking of upgrading from Sky HD to Q with one mini box.

Does anyone know what sort of deal I should expect to be able to push Sky for?

Many thanks, Steve.

I had no end of problems with my boxes for many months. Eventually after 90 minutes on the phone and any number of updates, reboots, changes to settings, and more reboots, the system has been stable ever since.

It's worth getting in touch with Sky if you haven't already.

My problems are:-

Turning on and now image however tv guide is showing. Reboot Main box and mini.

Now every other channels, black screen. Enter the channel number picture comes up, then black screens on the next screen etc.

Boxes won't turn on, reboot each one.

Finally Optical Connector on the back is broken. Will require a new box! Means we loose all recordings. This is why we went for SkyQ we are not always at home so record and watch when home.

I recon we reset these boxes around every two or three days.

I Beta test, Sonos, Apple IOS, AV equipment and have never had soo much trouble with a product.

You've got a problem with your install, call an engineer. Do you really think they're all as bad as yours?

We have had 3 new boxes already, the Silver and the mini are 12 foot apart one downstairs one directly upstairs.

I have called them dozens of times, All I ever get from them now is to do a reboot.

I was even told not to use the optical as the TV should play the sound! and then was told not to use IR control with the control system,

TV was fine was SkyHD and we had no problems. Overtime there is a software update the two boxes loose connectivity.

For reference:

Sky Fibre Hub
Sky Silver
Sky Mini

its all wireless!!!

Engineers have tried wired but that didn't work at all. Even the standalone silver box is unreliable.

When you had Q fitted did they fit a new dish or run new cable? If not that might be your issue. It's a lot pickier with its signal strength and for some reason bad signal seems to effect the entire system.

I still think it's fantastic and can't imagine going back. I haven't been over impressed with the quality of the UHD content though, compared to YouTube, Prime and PS4 Pro stuff, never seems that sharp. Nice that all the UI elements are UHD though.

Unless your willing to play the I'm leaving game not much. Potentially some money off the boxes/installation fee.

Current leave and log into stay with sky deal is 60% off for a year. Can hold out and potentially get more off.

Smollet, thanks, that's something to aim for.

Westtra, did you threaten to leave or leave and re-join (maybe partner account or something) to get that deal? 60% off of everything?!

Cheers, Steve.

Kicked off cancelation. Offered 50% off. Continued with cancelation and tookthe stay with sky offer of 60% so bill is £32 for variety, cinema, legacy hd(gets me f1 and boxsets). Plus £12 for multi room on top.

Cheers, Steve.

On the BT site it says that a 2nd box is £6 extra a month. No info if you have more that 1 mini box.

The £6 enables all the minis. Worth trying for a deal though - plenty of reports of people getting it free..

Thanks folk I will try contacting BT again. It's quite ironic that a phone company can't answer the bloody phone.

I have considered Sky Q but currently I have 4 Sky+ boxes. How many Sky Q boxes can you have, last time I checked it was only 3 I think.
