Yep, ours has crashed a few times on hitting the home button. Screen freezes, then shortly goes black and then reboots.

Is there any home fixes for disappearing thumbnails? Tried factory reset and turning off from mains with no joy,

it's really annoying!

One suggestion which cropped up over on Sky's forum is to change the DNS you use to Google's - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 . Seems to fix the issue for quite a few users.

Rather than sky's dns servers, seems a strange issue for it to be dns related

Indeed. However several have reported this fixes it. Could be a CDN issue which gets bypassed when using non isp DNS servers.

SkyQ is absolutely awful. Totally unreliable . Constant resets and faffing about is required to maintain/restore service on secondary boxes.
They aren't daft by making the extension boxes 'free' after buying. So rather than cancel i'll have to consign them to the skip.
Luckily I have just obtained a Virgin Tico @ just £2 extra a month added to my Virgin Broadband. Old/clunky but it actually works.
Think long & hard before getting SkyQ

Since the first big update I haven't had a single bit of bother bar the odd reboot but I can remember Sky+HD when it launched and it was far flakier than this.

The only issues I have seen with the mini boxes has been when WiFi is a bit flakey. I'd suggest using powerline if possible or Ethernet.

I don't think they will. The last Sky Tv price rise was July 2016 and I'd be surprised if we see any increase this year.
More likely to see changes to the structure of the Sports pack and possibly the introduction of the loyalty scheme mentioned in their last financial statement .

September would be a poor choice of time to increase the price too - that's when the early adopters of Q will be up for contract renewal...
They have an annual price rise in Sept what makes you think they will not?

They are a good £15pcm cheaper than all competition on fibre so room to increase

Because they've already raised phone/broadband prices this year and the tv increases have been in June for the last 2 years, not September.

So with inflation running at 3% ish your honestly thinking sky will simply suck that up instead of making the customer pay?

You really believe that?

My set up is main box / mini box in bedroom directly above it / Sky booster in hallway / mini box in adjacent bedroom
It's just hopelessly unreliable. Had it about a year, always get latest updates in the hope that it will improve. But just useless.
Had to reset & pair up the whole lot again yesterday evening, almost a weekly occurrence.
Working at this moment in time, although the recordings thumbnails have chosen to disappear.
I guess I'll have to wire it all up. Kind of defeats the object though but anything worth trying.

One improvement they could make would be to add an inline switch on the power cords. Would make the weekly reset of the POS a whole lot easier !

What have Sky said when you've reported it to them?

What about landline and fibre broadband?
You are then closing fast to the £90-110pcm plus if you wants sports

Haven't gone with their broadband as I have my own router and wifi access points and they won't let you use your own stuff.

I'm getting 65mbps from plusnet that, so far, has been reasonably reliable.

Hows the picture quality? Ours is arriving next week. Just 1TB as can't bring myself to spend on the 2TB box. Slightly annoying it can't do UHD but oh well!

Also what's the tech the wireless multiroom boxes use? I assume I can buy something non sky as a one off and send upstairs as long as it's the same as downstairs? Again it would be nice but not worth the monthly to use a couple of times per year.

Nothing stopping you though, I'm doing it because my Q wifi started draining my phone battery through constant data transfer so I switched back to my old router and wired the Q boxes over gigabit ethernet.

Question - does anyone know if you can mix wireless and wifi for the skyq boxes?

I have wifi which now works faultlessly for the existing boxes, but I want to put an adidtional mini box in my gym which doesn't get wifi signal.

So can I have one box wired and the others wifi or do I have to switch to wired for all of it?
