You could take a punt on this and see what's wrong with it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHARP-VZ2000-vz-2000-vz-...
Ultimate ghetto blaster for some because of its record player which could play either side without having to remove the disc.

Thanks, but I think I will give that a miss.Ultimate ghetto blaster for some because of its record player which could play either side without having to remove the disc.
I wonder if there is an Aladdin's cave type of shop somewhere where they stock vintage unmolested pristine examples like the ones above??

OP, it's absolutely none of my business, and tell me to do one if you wish, ....but why?
I'll add my 2p. For me it's a nostalgia thing, and some of them have real character! They seem to end up in car boot sales a fair bit, some are obviously very tired, but some are virtually given away as the owner doesn't realise how collectable they are!

I'll never forget one Autumn night in 1983 in a local underpass. We were all 14 years old and one mate who was a bit older turned up with a huge portable stereo (it seemed it at the time anyway, I've got exactly the same one upstairs at the moment).
On went Streetsounds Electro 1. It blew us all away! What a moment, and it was partly down to how loud that thing was!
Oh, and it had VUs and LEDs similar to the Philips above. Happy days!

Mostly a nostagia thing. I have two 80s classic cars with the original Blaupunkts in them, and I always thought big ghetto blasters sounded great and looked great. I am also looking for a decent Reel to Reel and even a Betamax video cassette player.I need to find a classic Hifi specialist or a similar vendor who loves restoring these classic icons to their original condition.

Wow
I had one of these Hitachi TRK-3D80
I forget what I paid for it new back then (probably lots), but it went to many festivals with us and always performed well. You needed a sack full of 'D' cells to keep it running over a weekend though.
I always used to carry a pack of blank C90s with it because if someone came along with a decent music tape you could take a copy at the same time everyone was dancing around the camp fire
It was ace - such fond memories.

I reckon that at anything up to £50, it's a nice curio to have in the home. Beyond that...I'm oot! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JVC-RC-M90LD-/1418694833...
