What distance will you be viewing from?
I can never get my head around this question. ( In the context of if your only sitting 6 feet away then you dont need anything bigger than a 42"I'm a bloke. I need a big big TV. No point getting a big TV only to sit 20 feet away. I want the biggest I can get on the wall. No such thing as too big in my world
I'm sat like 7-8 feet from by 60" Kuro and would like to go bigger

Oversize TV's not appropriate to the size of the room always remind me of them programs like Benefit Britain.
Massive TV = Council estate chav in my mind.
Opinions may vary....
Are you saying that Aston Zagato's oversize TV IS not appropriate for the size of his room? Massive TV = Council estate chav in my mind.

Is there a chart or table somewhere to help decide what's appropriate. I'm sure it'd be very useful and stop people stepping outside of social expectations .

Aston Zagato's seems fine, its a big room. I'm available to judge peoples choices all weekend. Is there a chart or table somewhere to help decide what's appropriate. I'm sure it'd be very useful and stop people stepping outside of social expectations .

Maybe...I have a 7 bedroom house and a Kuro 60" in my snug which is about 8 feet from my couch. Massive TV = Council estate chav in my mind.

Not the greatest photo as it was taken mid-set up; however I use a mini-projector (impulse purchase from Dubai Airport on a few years ago) linked up to a Sony all-in-one system... and I love it. Projector throws up to 100" image depending on the space you have. The pic shows a 70" picture and due to the space I have, I sit about 6-7ft from the wall with everything stacked on a standard IKEA cabinet behind the sofa.
A viewing area that big did take some getting used to; I initially though I had bitten off more than I could chew, but quickly got used to it. Only draw back is needing low-light/darkness together the best picture, so watching TV/DVDs/PS4 during the day is out unless I purchase blackout curtains.

That actually looks like a decent enough image. I've not seen one of those mini projectors in use before. There is no substitute for screen inches if you want the cinema experience. As you say though it does take a little bit of getting used to!A viewing area that big did take some getting used to; I initially though I had bitten off more than I could chew, but quickly got used to it. It's one of these:
It's actually a Merlin but I believe they are owned by Phillips. Anyway for the price (£400) it's a fantastic piece of kit; Full HD, 5 different inputs, even got 3D built in although I've never used it. Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made!
Only draw back, and I think this may be down to me using the bare wall vs a screen, is that depending on the source I don't always get even focus across the image. On the PS4 for example, the top 2/3rds of the pic can be crystal sharp but the top 1/3rd is ever so slightly blurry. There is a basic slider on top which you can use to fine tune things, but the problem still exists.
