Evening all,

I'm moving to Cyprus in the next couple of weeks and I'm looking for something that will let me watch UK TV like BBC, Sky Sports, E4 etc.

I've been looking online and seen people mentioning Kobi boxes, Firestick etc but was hoping for some advice on here from folk that have used them. I know they may not be above board but I'm struggling to find a way to watch TV out there.

Many thanks in advance.

Martin

I make no comment on the legality of it but you could do that with Kodi. There a number of a different ways of running so best have a google. The Raspberry Pi option is probably the smartest but you need a bit of tech know how to do it.

A few contacts I know have moved from Kodi on the Pi2 to Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV. More reliable and easier to update apparently. I have a Pi2 and it's not perfect but has saved me a bit of money...

I got this one for £45 delivered:

Can run at 4K easily and is super fast and smooth. Kodi all pre-loaded and the more popular Add-ons like Genesis / Phoenix / addon installer already in there. Get an £8 keyboard from ebay and it all works a treat. :thumb:

Saw this elsewhere in a discussion about android boxes and thought I would post - I'm not saying any of it is correct so do your own research:

No you're entirely wrong. EU law was passed recently that exonerates anyone from legal prosecution because of streaming. So you can stream all you like, the only people that can suffer legal problems are the hosts of streaming services.

Therefore it's legal, law is law and whilst it can pander to morality in this case there is no moral question to answer as the law of the land states it's legal. It's up to yourself whether you feel morally confused or not, the law implies strongly you should not concern yourself with it. If and when the law changes then you can concern yourself morally.

How can I be entirely wrong when I simply said I make no comment on the legality, I was specifically saying that I did not know whether it was legal or not. My statement was such so that I did not offer any wrong advice.

Forgive my ignorance, do you plug this into your telly and it gets all the channels off wifi? Is it an hdmi lead/socket you use?

Yes - there's an HDMI from the box to the tv. The box gets it's input from the internet either through WiFi or the ethernet port.

Can you get sport on that box? Premier League etc? F1?

It's all about the "add-on" channels you add to it rather than the box itself.

There's so many out there - best to google for "Kodi Addon"

If you install Kodi and then load an addon called NJM Soccer... it shows all of the premier league matches. there are quite a few more but you'll need to do some research.
