We have bought a projector from the US (they don't sell it outside of the states).

Friend bought a American fan and plugged it in via a adapter and it burnt the motor as soon as it was switched on.

I have read up and found that there are small converters available but also that they aren;t always needed.

The plug reads

Input: 100-240v ~ 50/60Hz 0.15A
Output: 6.0V -- 0.5A

Now as I read that the plug converts down to 6amps and will do so from a 240v input as well. So I could use a straight US to UK plug adaptor (I have one here already)

Any body know what the score is? I don't want to fry it as it took 2 weeks to get here, but don't want to spend another £15 on a bulky converter hanging off the wall if I don't need it.

If it's 100-240V then it will work, probably. Should. I'm not an electrician.

Yeah that is what i am thinking but like you I am not a electrician.

My wife however will plug me into the wall if the expensive "perfect" projector that should help get our screaming hard to sleep son, turns on then off forever...

If it's a legit label, yes it'll work. It's saying precisely what you think it is, the input voltage can be anywhere from 110 to 240 volts, and will output accordingly.

If it fries, the label is a lie.

ETA, it'll fry the power adapter, not the projector... should it be lying to you.

A trip to maplins with the original adapter and a two minute chat with the sweaty fella will see you with one with proper EU safety validation stuff if you REALLY want to play it say, and not have a shonky adapater in the mix.

That'll work but a 6V 0.5A power adapter isn't going to cost more than a fiver surely, and have a UK plug on it.

It'll be fine, I used to run walwarts like that all the time in the uk with a US to UK adapter. As above, go to maplins and get a UK one with the same output if concerned (no need to be).

Interested in seeing what this projector is, tbh.

Cheers boys.

Used the small adapter I have and it works like a dream, no need for a converter.

Thanks for your help.

Nothing amazing but looks less child like in design and has a timer, mains powered, different music/noises, moving changeable projection and also voice activation.

Might be tempted for one myself. We've several munchkin products, all have been ok.
