I have a Samsung plasma connected with a Samsung sound bar. I have a virgin TiVo box, xbox one and soon a ps4, currently I am physically unplugging and re-plugging an hdmi to and from the tivo/console and sound bar.

Would a splitter solve the above? I just want everything running through the sound bar and not have to piss about with wires everytime I want to play xbox or watch virgin.

Thanks 😃

You need a switch, something like a 4 input 1 output HDMI switch.

The cheaper ones are manual, and you either oush buttons to select the correct input, more expensive ones with auto sense which input has gone live and switch to that input automatically.

It's worth mentioning that the auto-sense ones can get a bit confused if devices go to sleep rather than power off.

Why not connect the soundbar to the TV, and all the devices to the TV, which would then decide what audio the soundbar recieves.

If they're of the same brand I'd imagine this is the intended way to connect them, using the HDMI-ARC port on the TV. Or using a Digital Optical out.

I too have a Samsung and needed to change input between my laptop's and Sky box's HDMI output. I just went on eBay and bought a male to female extension (40cm) for less than a fiver.

I leave the male end permanently plugged into the TV, as a 'fly lead'. Then, to watch a downloaded or streaming film, I simply hoik the Sky box output lead from the female socket and plug the male to male lead into the laptop and fly lead.

Cheap and easy...but I'm divorcing her!
