Hi guys,

My CD player is acting up, after 6 years I'm guessing it's the laser that's needing replaced. Do I need to go back to Richer Sounds with it or could I just go to my local lecky/ HiFi shop...my nearest Richer Sounds is over 165 miles away.

Your thoughts please.

Unless you purchased the super care of 5 years , and although it's lapsed slightly I'd take it elsewhere as all richer will do is send in for repair to I imagine a 3rd party.

Sometimes it's just cheaper to purchase another player second hand .

Thanks for the info. The CD unit is the azur 650C, will try and get it sorted locally. failing this I will look at replacing it.

Cheers,

Ian....

Unplug the unit from the mains.

Take the lid off.

Clean lens gently with a cotton bud. Never look into the laser with the unit on! This may seem obvious but I don't know your knowledge of tech stuff :-)

Put back together and see if it works.

It doesn't take much dust/crap to stop them working.

If it doesn't any competent person should be able to swap the optical pickup out for you.

part seems cheap
