Strange one this, I run a Yamaha Projector though my Yamaha Aventage 2030 AV Amp. Everything goes through the amp, Sky TV, BT vIsion, BluRay player etc and the amp then sends it to either my Sony TV or the projector depending on which screen I'm using. Everything works great even though the projector isn't HDMI and runs via 20m of HDMI cable via an HD Fury box of tricks.

However, the BT Vision set top box and my Chromecast just won't work confused

It doesn't show up any warnings (no device is not compatible or anything) it just shows a fuzzy/broken images from either the Chromecast or BT Vision. If I plug the Chromecast Directly into the projector it will show a perfect image though this is no good as I can't then get the sound through. If I use the input I'm using for Sky TV for instance it still won't work.

So there must be something crapping it out. I know the 20m of amazons finest HDMI cable will be the first obvious answer but I can't figure out how Sky or the Blu Ray work perfectly through it.

Any ideas???

What resolution are they outputting? Your Sky box is likely outputting 1080i as standard, check what the Skybox is outputting compared to others.

Sky is 1080i and but everything else is 1080p, including the Blu Ray which works no problem.

Have you tried changing the res on the Chromecast or BT? If you can.

Could be an HDCP issue?

When you switch across on the amp, have you tried 're-booting' the device, to confirm the handshake.

I'm not aware that you can although I I said, My Blu Ray player is running 1080p with no issues as yet. I will try the reboot to confirm the handshake but I don't think it will be the issue as the HD Fury takes care of that problem.

Does anyone have any experience of differing strengths of HDMI output?

I've ordered a 5V HDMI power booster in case the 20m of cable is too far for the signal to work over but I (perhaps incorrectly) thought that the signal from my AV Amp would be regulated by the amp itself, not each device that is plugged into it confused

Just a heads up on something I hadn't thought to have checked. I changed the resolution output of my AV Amp to 1080i and suddenly everything now works.

So it would seem that the 1080p signal is struggling to get through, but not 1080i. Any ideas confused 1080i isn't an issue in itself, but the picture on the Projector does look darker to me

The cable has a limited bandwidth, there a massive difference between 1080I and 1080P in terms of data required.

It's not uncommon for cables to be working perfectly but at the top of their capabilities then fall over if asked to do more.
