Which PVR to get?
Discussion
Generally HUMAX PVR's tend to be the best although The "majors" do produce a few good ones from time to time. The Latest HUMAX Freeview Play box is the FVP-4000 triple tuner with disk's from 500GB to 2TB They also do a twin tuner YOUVIEW box called the T-2000. It depends what features you require. Youview had a head start and had more replay and rewind services but Freeview Play is the "new boy" in town and will be there soon. You will need to get them connected via Network or WiFi to access the additional services. If you get BT vision then a Youview box is included to access their Sport and Entertainment channels.
Have look at the refurbished Humax Youview boxes here http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/refurbished.html?tv_p...
I've bought a few now, all been like new. Very pleased with performance and interface.

Youview is a platform used by BT and Talk Talk for their PVRs. Yes it is just Freeview channels, but the interface and EPG are specific, it also allows catch-up channels to be accessed via internet, iPlayer etc, Netflix. Some boxes don't have wifi, so you'll need an ethernet connection.
Freeview Play is the latest platform, similar to Youview, just a different interface and EPG, as it's the newest, the boxes tend to be more expensive.
The standard Freeview (HD) boxes use Humax' own interface and EPG, so a later version of what you've got.
See my post above for referb'd boxes.
