I'm looking for an AV receiver to power my ProAc Studio Pro 140 speakers. This will also connect to my TV, Apple TV box and PlayStation.

First priority is music. Need a good receiver to drive these speakers and do them justice.

Marantz, Arcam, Yamaha have been a few suggestions so far.

Would greatly appreciate advice / suggestions.

Thank you.

Arcam gets my vote. You don't get all the "bells and whistles" of a Japanese receiver but the sound makes up for it! I have an AVR850 and it's the best amp I have ever owned.

I have ProAc Studio 150s and after a mishap with a Sony, ended up with a Yamaha 1050 Aventage. It's bloody brilliant with music. I've also added a BK sub and NAD power amp and it sounds awesome at any volume. Doesn't strictly need the power amp but the sub works really well with the ProAcs.

Get a Yamaha, you cannot go wrong.

Bought it used from a dealer last year, just in the process of upgrading to a Dolby Atmos/ DTS-X 7.2.4 rig, the Z11 is a stunning amp for music it's a real show of corporate muscle by Yamaha. I would think transportation would be difficult as I have no box or packing and it weighs nearly 6 stone...

Another vote for Arcam here.

I have the AVR600 and it sounds fantastic with music. Better than I was actually expecting as they already have good form in this area.

That's a pity. Thanks for the offer though.

Thank you Stormfly. I'm leaning towards this.

Finding one in Dubai however might prove difficult. It's mostly Japanese brands here.

I have a Yamaha which works great with music and no slouch with films. A great all rounder for £350
