My projector died so bought a replacement and mounted it to the same joist in the ceiling. However this one doesn't have any form of zoom so the screen size is determined by how close/far the projector is from the screen.

On a positive note, I now have a bigger picture than before, though too big for the pull down projector screen. No worries as I wanted a wider one anyway. Now the challenge come's in. The wall is 1m91 across, and because of the roofline it can't be any bigger. The projected screen in 1m88 and It appears that buying a ready made screen that width isn't possible, so was gonna make one.
Just looking for any guidance from fellow PH'ers re material to use/where to get it, and whether there are benefits to using a frame, or edging with the black material i see some use. Additional challenge is that it has to be moveable (either roll up or physically remove from wall) as there is an access door behind that occasionally is needed.

Worth noting that the room has fairly low end kit (surround and projector) so it's not gotta be perfect , just good enough for the odd family movie.....cheers

If you want to go DIY then have a read on AVForums projectors section.

https://www.avforums.com/forums/projectors-screens...

While it won't matter to you there is a product called 'Filmex' which works as an acoustically transparent screen (so you speakers can go behind it). You can buy it from Epic Home Cinema in Langley, towards the bottom of this page:

http://www.epichomecinema.co.uk/EpicHomeCinema/Pro...

I was going to built a fixed Filmex screen myself, but by sheer fluke a roll of unused Seymour XD material popped up on AVForums' classifieds so I bought it, but I've still got to build a wooden frame to staple it to.

I've assumed you mean a fixed screen because I don't think you can DIY a pull down or electric screen.

Custom Screens are easy to source, but not as cheap as those off the shelf.

There is the even easier solution of using Screen Paint, which is a reflective paint and just use the wall.

Sadly the wall has a louvred half height door smack in the middle....so a screen (that can be moved if needed) is about the only option in this case

How often do you need to get to the door?

A light weight fixed frame screen custom sized could be an option.

It is motorised that get costly.

Hi Vex
Probably need the door about 12-15 times a year so a frame that could be lifted off would work.
Guessing there are companies who could make one in the size I need, but cash is short so will try the DIY route.
Best I go find some of this filmex material and go from there
