Find out what to turn off in the options when it arrives. Av forums will probably have a thread on it. Default might have a few extra processing bits on that do not do it any favours.

ISF 1 or 2 and turn ALL enhancements off.

That's an excellent starting point.

OK, will have a fiddle when I get it mounted (!!)

I am praying my HTPC works OK with it, via the HDMI..

Depending on what spec the HDMI port is on it it might only do 4k30 not 4k60.

What does that mean, refresh rate?

ETA -It does state that it can play video files via one of the USB ports, but I had a HD enclosure that houses 8x4tb HDD's, full of uncompressed MKV files. I think that may be too much for the TV, I know most BR and TV's won't recognise drives larger than 2tb.

Yeah, it might not matter depending on what content you're watching, most Film/TV is 24/25/30fps

LG OLED TV all the way. Once you've seen a comparison in store from a 'standard' HD signal (ie skybox feeding multiple TVs) and not the false DVD promos some companies use you'll understand why OLED is so good.

I went in to buy a 4K Samsung and came out with an LG 55" OLED. I didn't buy the 4K model at the time as I doubt I will ever watch a 4K signal and it becoming mainstream is years away.

My only regret, I didn't buy 65" OLED - but then again I'd have been talking £5k+ and not £1,700

It's arriving today, am so excited!

Have ordered a few more BR films, which I already have in DVD format (Gravity, The Martian, Oblivion, Jurassic Park 4 and the two new Star Trek films).

I just know I will end up buying a 4k BR player at some point, but right now, I am hoping my PS4 will be good enough. (Pity the new higher end PS4 doesn't do 4k HD BR's)

OK, have set it all up and connected everything - The HTPC works fine with the new TV. I love the fact that there is so little border around the viewing area. Only one small gripe is the power lead. I don't think it will be long enough to reach the socket once secured to its wall mounting.

Yeah, only 1.5 M on mine - quite easily changed by removing the plastic cover and getting stuck in apparently but voids the warranty !

There is one thing that I am not sure of.

I have connected a HDMI lead to both the ARC sources from the Denon X2200W receiver and the TV. But if I want sound coming from the TV, rather than external sources like SKY, PS4 and PC, I have to use the optical connection on the TV to the receiver. Is that right?

Hi.

No, that's not the case. I'm not sure I understand how you have things connected up but you will have an ARC (Audio Return Channel) HDMI port on your TV. The TV is the only thing using ARC. This should be the one linking your A/V receiver to your TV. It will send picture to the TV and audio back that the TV has generated (e.g. while watching TV from the in built tuner). You may have to switch this feature on on the TV and/or receiver.

Personally I don't use ARC, instead using the optical connection instead. For whatever reason my receiver uses the ARC channel in preference to anything else, even the audio coming into the selected input, so I switched it off.

Cheers,

I think I need to fiddle with the TV settings some more.

I have a HTPC, PS3, PS4 and Sky+HD box all connected to the AV receiver with HDMI leads, and only one HDMI lead plugged into the ARC connection in the TV (plus the optical cable right now).

ETA - Done it! I now have sound from the TV channels coming through the receiver, it was a option that was turned off, which I have now turned on..

Ah, Ok, that does sound correct. I think on my OLED the ARC is off by default, there are all kinds of output options under advanced -> sound out. Actually just looking at it the options suggest you can't have sound out of the ARC and the internal speaker at the same time...so you'd have to watch all your TV through the amp...that's a pain!

Like me you might end up just sticking with good old optical out!

Yay!

Now you just need a copy of 'The Revenant' on UHD Bluray to really see what the TV can really do! On BluRay I really like 'Birdman', which isn't an obvious choice but looks stunning.

I haven't got a UHD BR player (yet), just my PS4. I have tried out my backed up BR films in MKV format, and they look great (30+gb files)

SkyHD films aren't so great, no real improvement, but I guess that's down to SKY, but Netflix and Amazon content is much better. This is a great TV!

Might be an idea to wait for the new firmware before doing that, currently the B6 sees all UHD as 24p, in reality a great deal of UHD film material is shot at 23.97hz so you get a dropped frame every 12 or so seconds.

A new firmware is imminent.

Off to view a 55" B6 tomorrow and investigate audio options...

Then it'll be Netflix subscription (already got Prime) so I can see how the new series of Black Mirror looks on it.

Probably won't be investing in a new BR player straight away, so anything else I should be adding to my shopping list?

4k Bluray player, there are three models at the moment I think? I am waiting for a better selection with more options. Hopefully soon. Need a bit of competition to sort the prices out.

Oh, and 1080p bluray is superb on the OLED.

Am loving the picture quality. The HD MKV film files look stunning, and Prime and Netflix also look great. The magic wand remote is fantastic, too.

I was thinking about upgrading to SKYq, but TBH, we now watch so little SKY (and terrestrial channel) content, it'd be a waste of an extra £12 per month.

I have read some reviews of this TV stating that the sound isn't very strong, but I do not use the TV sound at all (I suspect many do not nowadays). Everything is plugged into the AV receiver.

It seems there are only three 4k BR players available right now, and the cheapest (Samsung) isn't rated that highly. I will wait until there is more choice and the prices come down a little more. The Blu-Rays look visually perfect, I cannot see the 4K BR's being 4 times as clear!
