Thanks for the feedback guys.

I'm crap at waiting when I get something in my head so have a 65in LG E6 OLED being delivered tomorrow via Currys / PC World, they seemed to be the only place that have them in stock for next day.

Saw a TV news report from CES showing LG OLED screens 0.1 inch thick. Not sure if that is for the next gen or the one after that.
That's the designer panel for 2017, €10k for 65 inch, €25k for 77. With this and the Panasonic it seems there is a market for very expensive 65inch TV's.

yes

LG W7 wallpaper TV
The new W7 is part of the "Signature" range that included the G6 last year. The Signature range represents the best in design and technology from LG.

W7 is ultra-thin, just 1 millimeter, and can hang flush to the wall. All electronics are integrated in the soundbar you see below the TV. The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos sound and connects to the TV using just a single flat-type cable.

I think that, or it's predecessor, will be on my shopping list for 2018/19 when I move.

Wonder if you can glue it to the wall? wink

Clever. Just read this.....

LG includes a special flush-mounting plate, the top of which screws into the wall as usual, while the bottom sticks to the wall with magnets. It's even flexible enough to peel slightly away, if for no other reason than to blow your visitors' minds.

If most broadcasts are going to be 1080 for the foreseeable future is OLED still going to be the best?

Oh yeah. (in the eye of the beholder of course.....) (excluding SD, SD is SD and that is not very good)

However, there are players (1080p and 4k) and streaming. And HDR. BT pegs its 4k steam at 20mbs I was reading? Netflix at 17 or so so a good rate. Many options past the standard broadcast.

Oled does just as good a job with 1080P from blu ray/streaming as it does with 4K - the technology isn't just about resolution.

However, If by 1080 you mean the crap put out by SkyHD for example then there's probably better out there.

OLED will beat every other tech for 1080, it is when you get to HDR that 'some' argue that LCD tech 'could' beat OLED, but that is still nonsense.

So...thanks to GaryHun I bought a Samsung KS7000 55" from John Lewis at £899.

Haven't really had time to fiddle with it in any detail but out of the box am super happy with it - a big step up from my previous 50" Pioneer plasma.

However...I have a quite noticeable lip sync issue with the TV and my Sky HD box whereby the picture is just totally out of whack with the sound. I have tried using the audio delay settings but to no avail as the delay varies from channel to channel.

It is basically the same issue as this:

https://www.avforums.com/threads/ks7000-lip-sync.2...

But as no-one has an answer on AVForums I am stuck. Does any of the super friendly PH crowd have any suggestions please?

Many thanks in advance!

Is there not an option to auto sync on the TV?

Not that I have found. FYI - I am optically connected for audio from my Sky HD box to the Samsung One Connect box.

This may be an issue with the Sky box, not giving the audio and video out in sync. How does your video get to the TV? You could try using game mode on the TV, that will reduce the latency of the TV and maybe bring the sound back to sync. Not really a fix though. Can you use HDMI for the audio/video? You'd expect them to be synced over the same connection and if not there is a function in HDMI CEC (Samsung call this anynet+) to negotiate the audio delay.

My thought would be use HDMI for both audio and video too.
