Also, don't forget viewing angles. if there's 4 or 5 people sitting watching the TV, we can't all watch it directly head on, the extremes are at 45 degrees to the screen. I know the OLED is great for this (and plasma). I have no experience with LED's, except my PC monitors..

I had mine delivered by Curry's (Next day delivery)

I bought the complete BR box set of Battlestar Galactica (the new one) in the Amazon sales. Very disappointed with the picture. After an introduction from the producer, waxing lyrical about how the series was filmed digitally and BR will allow us to see it in all its HD glory, it is the most grainiest picture I has thus far seen! The DVD version is clearer. I tried everything with the setting for both TV and 4k BR player, but nothing helps. Must be a really bad copy..

Yes, some are grainy and some crystal clear. The best BR film I have seen with the BV6, Denon 2200 and Panasonic 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player is Avatar - the picture is just perfect with so much depth of colour (even in MKV format). The best 4k BR's I have seen is Star Trek Beyond, Exodus - Gods and Kings and Oblivion. (Still have Everest to watch in 4k BR format)

I was disappointed with the BSG box set because at the beginning of the feature, there is an introduction by the producer who states that the whole series was filmed in digital format, meaning a clearer, sharper picture. This just wasn't the case, it is by far the worst quality picture I have thus far seen for a BR. I have BR's for older films like the Spaghetti Westerns and Zulu from the '60's, and they look pretty darn sharp. Even 1976's Assault of Precinct 13 is better than BSG!

I get that very occasionally on Netflix, but I have never seen it during BR/4k BR or MKV file playback, so I always assumed it was down to streaming.

Thinking about it, one or twi scenes in Marco Polo do it yet there are more challenging scenes for a compression method either side of that scene. I still put it down to to the supply, 1080p off a disk is flawless.

Speaking of which, where are the 4k player deals? Damn their eyes. Oppo looks like a potential, Sony looks like it is going to release something that is going to be very pricy but that is next year. Might have to be the Pannasonic.
This Panasonic 4k player is now down to £330, I paid £400 only three weeks' ago!

These are the HDMI cables I bought to go with my new TV, AV amp and 4K BR player, and all works great:

You do not need to buy an £80 HDMI lead..

I wonder if the "cleaner, starker whites" of LCD screens in this review is the same thing as when I commented on the OLED whites looking like dirty snow?

The whites looked darn good in the 4k disk version of Everest! Also, I actually squinted when it shown the sun, it was so bright! That's never happened before.

Well, we've had it set up for almost two months now, and in that time, I have not once thought, hmm, perhaps I made a mistake and wish I'd have spent a lot less on a bigger LED screen. Everyone who has visited, without exception, has mentioned how great the picture is on this TV as soon as they see it.

I bought it knowing there is a gap from over the aerial SD through top UHD Bluray (and then I had not considered the source material for the latter but that plays in). The upscaling is superb however SD is SD no matter how you try to polish it, the info just aint there to start with. Aerial HD is just fine for casual viewing. I have found I have stopped watching SD. Blurays 1080p are great with this as they should be. However I have many years worth of SD DVD....... damn damn damn......
I am steadily replacing all of my favorite SD DVD's with BR or 4k HDR BR discs. (I even just bought Game of Thrones series 1-6 on BR to replace my DVD's). A lot of the standard BR discs are now so cheap (GoT wasn't..), it's a no brainer if you have a decent TV and BR player. We have been putting the replaced DVD's on EBay, which see to sell.
