Happened upon a pair of these this morning, I'd never heard of Canon producing speakers but they had quite a range in the early 90s.

They're a pair of S-35s like this:

They've replaced the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0s I had on the desk in my office and they are impressive in that application, significant improvement over the Wharfedales which I've never really gelled with. They're also not too big which is what I wanted for the desk.

A bit different anyway.

Good speaker the S35, one of the first to use moulded 'lenses' to improve off axis dispersal; plenty, like B&O, have followed since. The mouldings were made by TT Audio Plastics, in Huntingdon, who I used to work for. iirc they were one of the first companies to take advantage of mineral loading ( Chalk, talc, mica ) to damp vibrations / resonances in polymers too.

Thanks for the info. A bit of googling indicates they were designed by Allen Boothroyd of Meridian.

I am loving them anyway. Had a great day revisiting all kinds of music to explore them a bit, surely the highlight of getting any new audio equipment.

I bought a Canon centre speaker for my first 5.1 system. It's still in use today!
