Looking for some advice folks

I have a fairly new LG smart TV linked to my router via a TP Link AV500 powerline adapter.Im on BT infinity fibre so getting decent speeds.I can watch BBC iplayer or youtube or wuaki without problem but when I watch netflix at some point it will buffer to 25% then stop and eventually say something like we cant detect an internet connection.I always check and my connection is always good.I can watch Netflix on my PC over wifi with no issues whatsoever even upstairs. So what is going on and can I fix it ?

Just to close off this thread removing the adapters fixed it

How did you connect to your router instead? Wirelessly?

My Samsung Smart TV connects wirelessly and Netflix etc is absolutely fine...

I had similar problems when I first got my LG B6.

Message kept coming on screen saying 'internet disconnected' then a few minutes later 'internet connected'. This was with a wired connection.

I read a few threads from LG owners with similar problems but there was no definitive answer.

In the end, I swapped the cheap ethernet hub I was originally using at the TV end with a decent Netgear switch and all the problems went away.

I assume it's some sort of handshaking issue with certain chipsets in the LAN adapters, but who knows?

I suspect it's OK on WiFi, but if you want to hard wire it I would suggest using a good quality hub or switch and decent patch cables.

Yes connected wirelessly.

So why am I using adapters ? well my previous ISP was ADSL so wifi was nothing like it is now and I had to use the adapters to help boost the signal. When fibre became available I kept on using them not realising I didnt need to until now.

Got an LG here and streaming 4K is fine using wireless.

Until the family fire up their iWhatever and the issues start.

Wired every time for me and it's what I recommend to anyone using high-ish bandwidth.

I tested mine on wireless and wired and got <1ms response time from an external speed testing service, so I can't see how wired could make anything slower unless you were using 10Mb/s Ethernet.

I use wired connections on pretty much everything in my house and that's why I've got a 24 port switch sitting in my home office. Copper will always be more reliable.

As in higher bandwidth, from tests.

My 55B6T is far from my router and 4k netflix works well

I'm interested to know how you're testing it in that case.

I'll stick me waders on then...

ta!

Found it...

Someone compared his wi fi connection with his wired connection using Fast.com in a browser.

He reported seeing 135MBps download speed on his wi-fi connection and 90MBps on his wired connection, giving the possible explanation that the LG has a 100MBps ethernet port but supports 802.11 ac on the wi fi connection, so should be able to go to 166MBps on that.

Now, I can't say if he's wrong or right as I don't know what wired ethernet port speed the LG supports, but I just ran the same test as him and the wired connection was slightly faster, but then my broadband connection speed is 35MBps on a good day, so it's not much of a test!

This also relies on your router supporting 802.11 ac to be valid.

If there's someone on here with a really fast BB connection and 1000MBps wired ethernet and 802.11 ac wi-fi connection who could do a comparison, that would be interesting.
