So I've had my Bose 30 wireless earphones for over a week and for the life of me can't hear any difference when fully "up" except the obvious (and free) reason that ear buds will have some static noise reduction!

In fact if the ANR is turned right down it makes listening to music useless! Without music it's just a load of hissing and feedback - both ears.

Any views? Hopefully I've got a faulty set!

I think you must have. I have wired Bose over the ear ones. When I put them on with no music playing and turn on the noise cancelling, the immediate difference is incredible. All background noise eliminated and replaced with, well, nothing.

Update: Finally got around to ringing Bose today. Nice guy said it could be faulty and agreed to replace it. Even arranged UPS to collect it from my house at no charge.

Can't fault the service just hope the new one is an improvement. thumbup

You should notice a good bit of difference. Wouldn't be without my ANC headphones on a flight now, the difference is significant. ANC is not great at cancelling irregular noises though, so if you are using them in an environment with lots of people speaking around you for example the effect will be diminished.

Bose ANC cans will give you no noise at all when no music is on and NC is enabled. Their noise cancelling buds leave you with some background noise but no hiss and crackling.

If you want to have all noise excluded you need the over-ear cans.
