The wife is desperate for a TV in the bedroom, I don't want one.

I tend to go to bed earlier than her, she stays up to watch her st on the TV in the lounge, I know for a fact if we had one in the bedroom she would come up at the same time as me and it would be on,I want to go to sleep in silence and without the flickering of the TV in the background.

I suffer with tinnitus so having a bit of background noise from the TV actually helps me get to sleep.

Never had one.

I have stayed in hotels many hundreds of nights and didn't watch TV from the bed in those rooms either.
Same. We have one television in the house, and it's in the TV room. There is another screen, but it's in a room we use as a gym, and it's only hooked up to a Peloton Guide - no streaming device.

Lady F grew up in an American household where there was a TV in every bedroom and hated how antisocial it was.

Occasionally, she will watch a show on her phone in bed whilst I read - screens right before bed don't work for me, but books (admittedly on a kindle) knock me out.

I have a tv in the bedroom. I put it on and fall asleep. If I don't turn it on it can take ages to go to sleep

TV bed. Absolute council, but Absolutely brilliant.
I’m completely against a TV in the bedroom - pure council.

The other half isn’t however. We’ve got a 32” and it’s lovely to just switch it off and be ready to go to sleep within seconds.

Once they're in the bedroom, cross-dressing becomes a moot point? :-)

We don't have a telly in there, sometimes watch a bit of ipad. I prefer to collapse on a sofa and watch TV mostly, but I can see that would be different in a house full of kids etc.
You'd expect a TV in a hotel or airbnb, so if you want it at home, have it.

TV in the bedroom means the wife goes to bed early to watch her crap in there, freeing up the living room for me

Never allowed it after watching her fall asleep in the lounge infront of the TV and waking up complaining I was watching that after I switched it off. No way!

Have one but can’t remember the last time it got used. Bought it when our main TV was on the blink and moved it up to the bedroom when I was quarantined with Covid.

So OP I hope you've learnt from this thread that some PHers think they are too good for a TV in the bedroom and anyone else that has one is somehow of a lower status than them and those that said they do have one don't watch it.

Oh and PH is full of liars.

This is a is a hot topic in our house. I really really don't want one. When i go to bed its to be in a quiet place to relax and go to sleep not listen to John fking Rambo having a tear up with the mountain police.

We had one in our first house and that is exactly the scenario that played out almost every night. Some action movie at midnight every night.

Second house i won and we didn't have one.

Third house and she's back on one now.

Current answer is 'yea ok but as long as no action movies'

Only issue is i would be the one to fit it and unfortunately i have a list of about a thousand other things which need doing first, so ill get a few more years without one hehe

We used to have one.

I hated it being there - bedrooms are for sleeping in, not watching TV.

When we moved, I successfully campaigned for it not to come with us.

If you're married/partnered, no. one or the other is going to want it on, whilst the other doesn't. There's only downside to it.

Not a big fan of TVs in bedrooms but at times it's nice. My current place allows for a projector in my bedroom which allows for a circa 12x6ft image which is handy for the current fly away races.

Same. Only a small 32".
Much rather watch something in bed and possibly fall asleep rather than sit on the sofa downstairs and force my way through it, then try to sleep.
