So there seems to be a few experts on here with regards to TVs etc.

Am looking for a 46'' LCD/LED tv to replace a sony 40W2000(getting moved to an other room for xbox and PS3)

Have been looking at the

Sony 46W5500, Sony 46Z5500(top end of budget), Samsung 46 800 series and through my work a good deal on the sharp 700 series.

Whats peoples thoughts on the above? any other TV suggestions.

46 LED [ LCD ] is a good option if youre going to wall mount it flat. Otherwise we recommend any of the Panasonic plasma range for that size. G series perhaps.

Viewing distance as critical as ever.

Will it be a 'standard tv' or more specialised for film viewing? Are you a sports fan? Will you be subscribing to an HD service?

Are you interested in value or cheapness?

What sort of car do you drive and how much do you spend on wine, holidays and Thai massage services?

hehe

Not wall mounted, will be in a corner on stand. One problem with plasma is the window is to the left so daylight viewing may be an issue with plasma.

Have sky HD so it will be fed that and blu rays but also SD sky aswell. i am interested in something that has a good picture quality for all sources but at a sensible price.

Have wide range of viewing habits, am sports fan more motor sport but the odd game of football will be shown aswell.

And I aint telling you how much I spend on massages smile

If you feel the 46Z5500 is just about within budget, consider the real necessity for all your functioning body parts and listen up:

The Pioneer PDP-LX5090 is still, just about a fulfillable dream.

It's performance is legend and with good cause: I shall be spiriting one away, myself because this side of Panasonic's awesome Z1 series kit, nothing is really quite fit to lace it's boots.

It is worth the premium, many time over because of this superiority and whilst many alternatives are perfectly worthy in isolation or normal relativity, against this, well...

If you absolutely cannot, then yes, the Pansonic S/G series plasmas are the ones.

Bear in mind, the loss of resolution (from any measured base, be it 1080p or otherwise) in larger LCDs is generally massive compared to the plasma alternatives.

Even though it looks like a good tv it's too big for where it will be. Max size is 46/47''

Yes but not in that particular vaccinity. wink

Depends how you look at it.

In the context of hyper sets down the ages, it's actually serious vfm; the difficulty is that many self proclaimed oracles have dumbed down the audiovisual art to a denominator which leaves much to be desired and one to boot, where many volk believe they can have a Zonda for the asking of a Cee'd! hehe

Got an LG 47 LH5000 and couldn't be happier with it, but I'm scared to tell anyone on here because it's not a "panny plasma" for fear of being flamed to death.

Right it's out now I bought an LCD and not a plasma....7am tommorow ok for the firing squad?

You don't - unless you're one of the very small minority whom notice phosphor lag (green/purple trails) on fast moving scenes.
Otherwise, Plasma is as much a gamers TV as any LCD is.
