Got an LG 47 LH5000 and couldn't be happier with it, but I'm scared to tell anyone on here because it's not a "panny plasma" for fear of being flamed to death.
Right it's out now I bought an LCD and not a plasma....7am tommorow ok for the firing squad?

You want to be getting a plasma for anything 42" upwards..
Edit: Sorry if it's for gaming only, then LCD is a ghooood choice
forgot to ask why better getting plasma over LCD above 42''?Edit: Sorry if it's for gaming only, then LCD is a ghooood choice
Otherwise, Plasma is as much a gamers TV as any LCD is.
I was with an old punter chum of mine last night, very much into his gaming since he is a games programmer, funnily enough with a hugely demanding visual palate verging on the unrealistic.
Spent some time evaluating many options but using both The Dark Knight and WALL-E Blu-rays as software testbeds, the oddest conclusion - even in the face of much highly processed and subjectively excellent, commonly recommended hardware - was that surrounding the JVC LT-47DV1 set.
If ever there was an exception to the (large screen plasma) rule, here it was.
Format-defying black levels with motion handling and general processing efficacy that put it hugely in contention for the gamer/movie buff looking for a truly exceptional product.
I've been saying it for ages, now; these (top line) JVC LCD chassis are way out in front but are habitually passed over. Often, it's only after such a session of refamiliarisation that they slap you with the reality of their brilliance.
Certainly compared to some of the standard, premium issue 100/200Hz variants in this format...

Whilst I can't guarantee it will be the absolute lowest price you'll get, vendors are very much like the products they sell; you get what you pay for in terms of customer service.
Therefore let me point you to http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/jvc/lt-47dv1bj.html.
Run by one of the knowlegeable gentlemen advising you and comes highly recommeded by a number of us.

So...are you saying that the JVC chassis thumbs its nose at the Panny plama sets?Spent some time evaluating many options but using both The Dark Knight and WALL-E Blu-rays as software testbeds, the oddest conclusion - even in the face of much highly processed and subjectively excellent, commonly recommended hardware - was that surrounding the JVC LT-47DV1 set.

It's strange, but I sold a Panasonic projector (at quite a loss too) to buy a JVC projector, yet I've never considered buying a JVC TV. Some impending rearranging might give the opportunity to replace the main TV (40" LCD Sony 40W2000); I'd considered going to Panasonic for a plasma now that the kids are older (no 'CBeebies' logos to get burned it, plus buring seems less of an issue these days). Maybe I'll have to look at JVCs too.

and I have never been a fan of plasma due to being a gamer and the screen burn issues.
I was the same when I bought my LCDs a couple of years ago, but things move on and it seems that it's not such an issue: I'll definately demo both types and choose whichever gives my the picture I like regardless of type, but I'll put the JVC on my list now which I would have ignored before. Tbf, screen burn was never really the issue many suggested and in recent years has fallen off the radar as a user issue, period; in any case, there are circuits designed to remove the effect even if/where it were a risk.
DV1 v G10/G15 is very much a coin tossing exercise in which aesthetics/requirement for FreeSat are likely to be key determinants.
Oh - and whether or not you are used to clappig for service...
