Panasonic don't do a 37" plasma with Freeview HD, the only plasma available (at all I believe) at that size is the 37x20 which is a great TV indeed and available for around £350 - the money you save could go on a nice Humax twin tuner HD box.
I'm shortly getting a 37X20 for the family room as it will run off a second HDMI cable and the same sky box as the front room so I don't need to Freeview HD. The price is simply too good to refuse!

Otherwise you're looking at LCDs at that size - I can't really comment usefully on those I'm afraid but I know there are some nice sets out there. Perhaps a Panny 37G20 LCD? Just within your budget:

Thanks Dobbo... thought this might get more contributions from those with knowledge and/or experience... but I take your ideas on board! did/have you not had any bad experience with screen burn? the price certainly is good, have had it in my 'favourites' for a while..RicherSounds is always my last point of call...
cheers

Screen burn on modern plasmas is basically a myth. You might on a very odd occasion see image retention but that's rare and temporary.
I've got a 42" panny G20 already so the 37" X20 is a logical addition to my household. Got an X20 for Mum a few weeks back and she loves it, so much better with SD content than her previous LCD was.
As for RS - point taken but if the price is right then why not?

37X20 is the chap but as before doesnt have Freeview HD built in. 37PX60 was a few years back. Understand the 37" plasma will be dropped after current stocks are finished!
If you must stick to 37" then you'll have to opt for LCD, or go for the plasma, and just add a Freeview HD tuner / recorder

Is the 37X20 the dogs danglies then?
I was looking at a Pana 37" LCD with Freesat HD built in. This plasma would be the cheaper option.
It hasn't been appealing to me because it lacks the HD Freesat tuner, and I didn't want to have yet another box and another controller on the TV table.
But, I'm also planning on building a media centre. Initially it wasn't going to have any TV tuner built into it, but maybe buying this TV as it's (~£300) cheaper and putting aTV card into the media centre would be the best way in the long run.
Hmmm. So is the 37X20 picture better than the L37G20B???

hmmm, me too....but I'm going to wait for possible January sale possibilities first... but I'll be standing on RicherSounds shop step when they start!
Jan sales. Vat goes up to 20%, so are you really saving as much as you think you are? I think some sales start straight after Christmas day no?Gingerbread Man said:
See now I want a 42", but the ball 'n' chain says "it'll take over the feature wall".
Don't forget the size refers to the diagonal width of the screen, so it's not that much bigger in reality, same dealio when deciding between 42 and 46, and 46 to 50. As said, I'd go for the 42 (and did!). I've got mine in a small room and it's not too dominant, plus it's nice to have it setup where for the first time ever I know I'm sat the perfect distance away from to make the most of the better quality, it's made a massive difference. You soon get used to the size.

I know if I got a 42" I'd never hear the end of it. Is the ball ache worth it!!!?
