Because my tv screen might be ruined? sorry I'm not following why you're rolling your eyes? That's what insurance is for is it not?
No, insurance is not there to replace something damaged by incompetence. What section are you thinking of claiming under? Accidental damage?
I thought that's exactly what accidental damage is for?

The OP's missus accidently wrecks the screen (assuming the TV is knackered) because she did not realise the potential damage that can be done by applying the wrong product to what she probably assumed is simply a normal glass surface.

If the OP had said, my TV is a bit old and tired I'm gonna drop it and get a new one from the insurance, I would be with you, pitchfork in hand

But it appears to me, his wife has accidentally damaged his TV, I don't see the issue?

Why she was out of the kitchen is a bigger issue and one the OP should rectify but still

Besides he may have paid insurance for 10 years never claimed once and he'll have to fork out an excess hardly worth it unless you need to surely?

For the record it's a 47 inch LCD tv that's about 13 months old if that helps with the baying masses.

Perhaps a picture of it, the wife with the wipe and a sorry look on her face might appease the doubters?

Or someone can sit down with me and show me how a valid claim approved by the insurance company which I pay every month for, impacts them personally I'll happily book some time with them.

CW7, I assume that brillo pad is to get the bloodstains out of the carpet?

No joke - I had a chap bring his Elise into the bodyshop for a quote to respray his front clam. His mum thought she'd be proactive and clean his filthy car. Unfortunately, she used something similar to the product you posted and got half way round the clam before noticing.

Similar accident here last month, the OH decided to clean behind the tv. As my tv was on a stand at a angle in the alcove you have to twist it to move it. She decides to twist the tv way to far then walk away to grab the duster, resulting in me having a modified 42 inch tv with a footstool in the middle.furious
This is not the post that you are looking for...

But that's a genuine accident. Allowing claims because someone used the wrong cleaning product is exactly why insurance premiums are going up. The rest of us are paying for this stupidity.
Jesus titty fking Christ, you're like a black hole for intelligence. Go and look up the definition of accident as you seem to be struggling with it - regardless of blame this is almost a textbook definition of accidental damage, something most home insurance policies extend to and he's perfectly within his rights to make use of.

Well, doesn't that just knock my paltry 37" HD Ready LCD into a cocked hat?

You bloody show-off.

HD Ready? You poor thing, tell you what, as part of my accidental/none accidental scam here, why don't I send you the old one if I do claim and they don't pick it up?

I hate to see good people suffer.

Err yes it is. I left a tap running and went to bed (don't remember turning on the tap or putting the plug in the bath). Lounge was like niagra falls. Pretty incompetant I agree but they paid out.
