Hey guys, I'm finding myself in need of some replacement speakers for my hifi.

I have a 10 year old Sony HCD RX99 unit. The cd player has long stopped working, but I only use it hooked up to my PC, so that doesn't matter. I've used it with the original speakers since I got it all those years ago, but recently they've given up. There's a small tear in the rubber of the bass driver, and you can really hear it when you turn it up.

So, as much as I would love to splash out on a whole new system, money is very tight, and I've decided that as I only use the speakers as PC speakers, getting a new set of speakers from ebay is the answer. Now I know the speakers are 8ohms, so will make sure that the new ones also are. What else do I need to consider? I'd like them to be able to handle fairly high volumes without risk of blowing and with decent quality, as if we are having a party, it is my speakers that the music gets put through.

Would something like this be suitable?
