Some of you may be aware that every summer Poole Tourism runs an event for classic & sports cars called Quay for my Car. They close Poole Quay down in the late afternoon & evening for an exhibition of specific types or marques.

http://www.pooleview.co.uk/CarQuay.htm

I noticed that there is no specific event for TVRs or British classics later than the 80's so emailed Poole Tourism.

The kind lady has asked me to get an idea of interest, and will certainly consider a TVR night, although they need to be sure that 50+ cars are likely to attend.

I've asked which dates may be potentials, but in the meantime, if each of you could reply to this topic to give an indication (date dependant) if you would attend? Once I have the specific date(s), I can come back and get firmer numbers.

Ok the date in mind is 27th July. Please add your name to the list/topic if you are likely to attend.

well done Ashley....

c'mon South Coast Tiv'ers get your name down, as if I need to point out what a great location it is, not to mention the local countryside, plus there are bars, restaurants, nightlife and <ahem> eye-candy (for the singletons of course....)

If anyone is planning on staying, let me know and I can recommend a few good local places for B&B/hotels etc.

Are you sure it was a Wednesday?
I always go down there on a Tuesday for bike night - there's usually quite a lot of the chaps around then.

I might be able to drag my sorry arse down there.
Is there a nice b&b or hotel with safe off road parking you could recommend?

Closest reasonably priced hotel is the Holiday Inn Express, by Seldown Bridge, about 1/2mile from the quay or an easy 10min walk. Car Park is not directly beside any specific "track" frequented by night-low-life, so should be low risk of any vandalism, although being nearer the town centre there is always a slim chance.

There is also a Premier Inn at Holes Bay. About 1 mile away. Again cheap, large car park, quite some way off the night-life "track", so pretty low risk of any vandalism etc.

The QuarterDeck hotel is also reasonable, but a bit more than the above two places. Next to Poole Park about 1m from the quay.

There are a few inns & B&Bs on and around the quay, but none that I know of have offroad parking due to the nature of the old town. Best stick to those above.

If camping is your preference, then there are a few options but further afield. Rockley Park in Hamworthy may allow camping (not certain), but failing that there are campsites about 3-5 miles away near Lytchett Minster. I believe South Lytchett Manor Caravan & Camping Park has a good reputation.

I might even be able to persuade a few others to make the trip down.

I like the sound of this smile. Bit of a haul on a Friday, which could be the challenge, but I will spread the word up here and see if we can plan a weekend by the seaside smile

Given that we were at 15 confirmed within 24hours, I updated Poole Tourism with progress so far, and the lady has come back and said she'll therefore take a risk that we'll get to 50, and has just confirmed July 27th as a TVR night! It will be on their website shortly (but as of posting, not yet).

http://www.pooleview.co.uk/CarQuay.htm

Woohoo. Another formal TVR event for 2012!!!

So let's get rattling those TVR networks and get EVERYONE down to Poole for the evening.

I'll contact the TVRCC as well, so that the event can be added to their magazine.

Just wondering if we should gate-crash the Porsche event to show them what they are missing? haha (joking....)

Mike
