I use sat nav as much as traction control, ABS and airbags.
Getting a bit lost in London with TVRs passing in all directions is brilliant.
Wacky racers always springs to mind at this event.

Yes you do. Find a post made by Mr Chios, click on his name, and on the next screen click on " email me " over on the right hand side.

Can I suggest that all us last minuters check out the .itn file attached to Dave (Mr Chips) email? I tried it tonight, and my Tom Tom said there was no content in the file. Dave sent it to me again, and the new version worked. Be daft to be trying to sort it at 2am on Sunday.....

There is a mild irony in all this satnav chatter for a meeting of PW's creations. wink

Just a quick question, has anyone loaded the .itn file on to a satnav successfully? Ive got the latest tomtom go live 1005 and apparently it doesn't support .itn files!

Hi,

There's a decent little application that runs on PCs and converts ITNs into loads of different formats - it loaded Mr Chips' file fine and outputted it to Google Maps for me. Can't remember what it's called but I'll have a look tomorrow at work if anyone needs it.

Cheers

Alot of the newer Tomtom's don't support itn files rolleyes.. I just bought a refurbushed Go750 for that reason alone..

You can of course just enter the waypoints manually to create your route, as any other Garmin/Navman etc owner can... or just print off the map over a few pages and bring a navigator/co-pilot !! smile

Hi Chris

We found that both Tom Tom satnavs we have between my son in law and I loaded the file, but only the newer (about two years old) Tom Tom IQ LIve actually displayed it, and I must have messed around with the menus for about five minutes before load itinerary suddenly appeared on page two of the main menu. The older one loaded the file, but we couldn't find anywhere in the menus the ability to use the file.

I then found that the M4 route was fine, but that the main route wasn't - the sat nav said the file was empty. I asked Mr Chips to send me another copy, which he did, and the new version loaded fine.

So I can confirm that the file works, and that it is a fiddle getting it to work. Email me if you want my son in law's phone number for a chat as to how he got it onto the Tom Tom.

if you are going to display your pistonhead name on your windscreen, it might be an idea to use a car parking sticker as they come off easily when you want them too,
just a thought :-)

As my PH name is my numberplate, I'll not bother with the sticker.
Mind you if the wrap is completed in time, I doubt you'll miss me!

South Essex pre-meet

I know there are a few groups getting together to arrive at the meeting point in a convoy so does anyone fancy meeting up at Thurrock Services (Esso site) at 5:15 to wander over to the start point in a convoy.

We may even have to go through the Dartfod Tunnel as they usually have the bridge closed for some form of maintenance early doors at weekends biggrin
