Anyone have contact details for P4 DOTCE Red Chimaera?
I may not have got the number plate exact - but I've got some good footage for him biggrin (not wanting to post online of course)

Just came across this posted on the tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOIFKAdV4_s

And therein lies the problem....

How many of us were involved? And I only spotted about 8-10 cars and going in all sorts of directions laugh

I was one of the last to leave the meeting point and even having to go full pelt out the gates I'd pretty much lost everyone by the end of the road. My personal view is that if we do that meeting point again leading car should trickle out the exit to at least give the guys at the back a fighting chance.

But then again first set of lights and we're stuffed anywayhehe

Possibly following the route instructions, in one of the many formats supplied, could be the answer?

Good tip from the S-Club Tour is to keep the car behind in view. Following the supplied route also helps. As long as the satnav doesn't decide to overule it!

Paul issued beautifully prepared written instructions. Twould be rude not to use them. IMHO sat nav way points are very second best.

I was on my own so reading anything is impossible,I also have no clue of where I am in London and being very dark just complicates further.

I was personally hoping that after discussion with Paul he could load the info route into my Sat Nav but alas he couldn't load it. He very patiently tried loading several but had very little success.

So what was I supposed to do? Turning up with the thought the route would be loaded then when that failed got no choice but to try follow the few cars in front. Almost 1st junction one car goes one way and the other goes another.confusedsmile

Edited

For those that are familiar with London and can pin point landmarks then it's a lot easier. I have spent a lot of time in Bangkok driving around it many many times and know it better than I do London. If I gave you a written route plan of a trip round Bangkok and you were on your own see how you get on.laugh

I've got a few ideas for the next adventure . . . . .

1) Put Jason in charge and let him have the logistical headache of getting all the TVR's to Bangkok

2) Hansel & Gretel TVR stylee, leaving a dayglo trail from the lead car for everyone to follow

3) road flares every 50 yds

4) make an application to close the roads we use ala the coventry ring road event so we can cone off the route properly

5) just accept the fact TVR drivers just cannot stay on route and enjoy the chaos that ensues anyway

6) back to the future tunnels coz "where we're going we don't need roads!"

Bit further up... I can't organize putting the right foot in the right sock.

Best left to the experts....

By the way Paul or others I am in no way criticizing for the way it's organized,I just need a good co pilot who can read or knows their way around London.

So you're not much of a reader then, don't like hansel & gretel wink

knew it wasn't criticism, what makes you think we're any better at it, given how lost everyone gets!

I was last out from the meeting point, got caught at the lights and then tries reading the directions but on my own trying to drive and read the instructions by the candle that makes do as an interior light in my car, decided the whole thing was not safe, not sure where the speed cameras were located, no one in sight having to try and drive as fast as I can to see if I could find someone, gave up went home and back to bed to catch some more zzzzzz's.

Note for all TVR runs - never be last out of the start unless you know the route or the area, and ideally have a passenger to read directions to you..
I was last out on the Rutland Rumble yesterday, but knew the route from last year and from half an hour studying it on the map the previous evening. Managed to collect 6 wayward souls by the end.

When we had big turnouts on the mixed marque LondonTunnel runs, we tried to have people with local knowledge at the front and rear, and ideally scattered throughout so people knew who to follow.
Postcodes every mile or so for the route help, and certainly for at all stops are a must, so anyone lost can just go to next meet point.

I for one enjoyed the chaos, it forced cameradary not that you need to do that at a tvr event but I spoke to more people because of it, it was also quiet amusing. I am unfortunately no longer a tvr owner due to children but I do have a jag xkr that I am going to mod the exhaust on and would love to join in on the next event so I will be watching for further details.

Not sure how it this is possible but I have had a thought regarding directions, what about a voice recording on MP3 that after every tunnel press play for the next set of instructions pause going through tunnels ( as you won't be able to hear anyway) press play on the exit of the tunnel and so on, abit of a faf I know but no more than sat nav that doesn't work. Don't ask me how to do this as I'm no tech wizard. Probably a better idea than flares😀

It's not a tunnel run if you don't arrive at a crossroads and there are TVR's at every junction facing each other biggrin

I thought the usual was, see how far you get, at least to Battersea and when bored or lost, fire up the Sat Nav and head to the Ace for breakfast smile
