The legal stuff...... keep it safe.
This is not a timed event, not a convoy, but a guided route.
You are responsible for your own driving standards and should drive in a manner that falls within the law and your own capabilities.
1. If in a group of cars signal early for turnings, pass the signal back.
2. Watch out for the car behind you. Make sure the person following you sees you make the turn
3. Allow suitable distance between you and the car in front of you. This will prove its value approaching the many blind bends in the Peak District, and as you make judgements whether to stop or proceed through amber lights. Remember amber means STOP if you have time to stop safely.
4. Use your best judgement when approaching long green or amber lights. Don't be concerned about delaying those behind you by conservatively judging the light. Judge it as you would if you were travelling independently of the group.
5. If at the front of the group or setting the pace, then bear in mind the "whip effect" even when you are doing a legal speed limit at the front, cars may need to do considerably more to catch up the tail of the convoy. If they have been briefly delayed at roundabouts etc.
6. If a non-convoy driver wants to cut in, let them. In fact make it easy for them. There will be plenty of time to re-group at our designated re-group points and rest stops. Share the road.
7. If we need to pass a car or cars, it should be done one convoy car at a time, don't all move out to pass at the same time. Pass as an individual not a group. Again remember those many blind bends.
8. Use common sense. Drive as though you are an individual following a planned route and map, rather than the participant of a group. Please take a few minutes to study our route maps before the trip and locate the roads on your map or atlas.
9. Your safety and safe operation of your vehicle is your responsibility alone and the run organiser assumes no responsibility for anything other than making arrangements for the event.
10. Not all these things are mandatory , necessary or even practical but use them where appropriate this will help to keep the run safe, fun and responsible.
11. Above all else " KEEP IT ON THE BLACK STUFF"........

Just had confirmation of the lunch time stop at the Pooles Cavern Buxton. The car park can take about 80 cars and the wide residential roads nearby are ok for parking. We will have time for a quick tour of the spectacular cavern for those who want too, with more "Thrills IN the Hills".
There is only a small cafe here so i recommend a good breakfast in the morning at Hassop and the main meal if you require it at the finish point at the Monsal Head pub.
We have negotiated free parking here and a discounted rate of the cavern tour of £8.25 each and any seniors are £7.00.
