I have a 4.3 BV Griffith on the original 5 spoke wheels. However I need to buy or make some new wheel centres.

Q1 Does anyone know where to buy them pls?

Q2 Would anyone be kind enough to provide some photos of theirs with accurate dimensions so I can get some made pls?

Many thanks

Hi Neil, I was only talking about these today at the BHP event! I could do with some for my 4.3 Gotti Wheels. When I bought the car it had two originals and two odd ones. One of the originals was in good condition!

So, I have a cunning plan! I am going to draw the centre caps up and have a friend make a prototype set in aluminium on his CNC lathe. If successful will have them black anodised or polish them up. Also, if successful could have a batch made for interested parties! The TVR logo badge I already have a source! Watch this space. Regards, Pete

You'll not buy any anywhere. The clips get brittle and break so they wont last forever, and its a botch to get them out. There are plenty of centre caps on e-bay for sensible prices but I've never got accurate measurements to see which would work. Slap on a centre badge and away you go. Or make them as Pete is looking at.
Pete - if you can get accurate dome I' msure you';d find something on e-bay for less than £10 for 4, just need the badges then. How much would the badges be and are they copies of the original? Not sure on aluminium.

Hi Paul, I did just hat you have suggested, I managed to buy of ebay some wheel centres that fitted (though flat not protruding like originals) and then purchased TVR logo resin badges to fit, total all in price was about £25 for the lot. I am still considering trying to make some original style ones as a project some time. all the best, Pete

Peter, Many thanks. If you do go ahead and make some pls let me know. I'll be in for a set and some spares.

Alternatively if you can let me have the dimensions pls, I have been talking to a chap in Glasgow with a lathe!

Regards

Neil

Or for us northerners not used to being ripped off by southern prices:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-MGB-ROADSTER-OR-GT-RO...
Looked at these before but other things cropped up and forgot about it but they are the correct profile and look like they could work. I've ordered one to try - I've got a spare Gotti and Amil so coud try it in both.

Paul, they look pretty damn good! Let us know how you get on with the sample? If they fit and look like the originals I would suggest getting them powder coated in satin black, I can get this done by one of my clients for a very reasonable price. We await your trials Paul, if successful would alleviate making them up. Regards, Pete

Probably wont be this weekend as I'm moving the MIL into a home so will be moving and doing 50 mile round trip shuttles - likely to be extremely knackered.
Neil - if you don't mind I'd appreciate if you could sent me some details on your BV, ie the reg, colour etc and maybe a pic. I'm collating a list of "original" BV's. PM me rather than post here.

Other possibles:
Black and domed top but not deep enough sides:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-ALLOY-WHEEL-CENTRE-CAP...

I'll try the MG centre, measure up and report back.

Fits well and almost identical height and size to the original. It was tried on an AMIL 16" but the Gottis are the same. These are the pictures:

Just need a tapered tool now to get the bugger out as its a tight fit.

Pete - get the badges ordered.

I think I'd be happy with the finish but be interested to see the powder coated option.
Pete - you say you have a source for the sticker to match. Are you looking to replicate the original?

I tried to get a bulk discount but they aren't willing to play. They all also come with the MG sticker - no option to get the centre without.
I'd ask about a discount on postage though as it only came in a jiffy and you could get 4 in there.

Just checked and its 30p cheaper (one for you Ian) to order via their web site if you order 4:

Thanks Paul.

It looks like we're having the same thoughts because I emailed them this morning asking if they can be either supplied without badges or with TVR badges.
Sounds like I might as well not wait and just order 4

Ordered 5 so I have a spare because I would be certain to break or damage one if I only ordered 4.

TVR badges next then.

Who has ordered some already and what are your thoughts about the quality of them?
