Morning all
Any ideas on how much coolant is in a 350i ??
After changing my head gaskets I now need to refill the cooling system with antifreeze - rather than trying to totally empty the system to refill thought Id just partially drain the system put in the required amount of antifreeze to give a 50:50 mix and top up with water
Thanks all
Ron

Cheers Zig
If I put in the 5 ltrs of concentrated antifreeze I've got it should give me just under a 50:50 mix then

When I did mine earlier this year after the bare block re-build, I put back about 11 litres, in roughly a 50/50 ratio with soft water. It's the anti-corrosion properties that are more important than the protection from freezing.

I use 25% and have never had problems.

Use water from the hot tap and you get less chlorine and scale in it.

I used water collected from a dehumidifier.

Yeah that is good stuff - mine comes from a condensing tumble dryer.

When I had a condensing gas boiler I collected that water too - but whatever you do don't use that in the engine, it contains mild sulphuric acid. Great therefore for topping up the car battery.
