Hi Steve
Precats & 500s all have the same rear hubs off a Ford Sierras with disk brakes (not drums) but watch out the rear bearing/caliper carriers vary.
http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/d0055-tvr-car-part...

Precat’s have the standard Sierra bearing carrier for solid disks while 500s have the Cosworth carrier for larger brake and there’s a third carrier for drums that you certainly don’t want.

Here’s the 500 bearing carrier
http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/d0102-tvr-car-part...

There's several 500 bearing carrier on ebay but none appear to be for the solid disk.

You definitely don’t want these for drums

Just to be clear here’s a picture of the Precat carrier.

Might be worth giving this seller a call as he's called Sierrsrus sierrasrus@gmail.com 07989186471 Stephen 07842703657 and he is another Steve.

If you need a Precat bearing carrier this might be a good opportunity to upgrade to 500 vented disks on the rear.

You did ask for links smile

Its the calliper that determines whether solid or vented disks can be fitted.

The ears on the bearing carrier determines the diameter of the disk. 253mm or 273mm iirc

Very Interesting, I'd be interested to hear how you get and sorry to hijack your thread.

Aren't the Granada/Scorpio 5 Stud vented disks 273mm x 20 and the standard Cosworth vented rears 270 x 20, is that right?? I thought the precat disks are 251 x 10, but I was measuring old worn out disks.

The Granada/Scorpio 5 stud disks are a perfect fit for a TVR 5 stud conversion as you only have to elongate the stud holes by about 1mm.

But 273 even non vented wont fit in a solid set up the disc will interfere with the carrier confused ford only made two sizes of hub/bearing carriers confused and 253 or whatever even vented will obviously be incorrect on a vented 273mm set-up

To run solid disks you need to use the right calliper to accomodate the width of the disk - they have a narrower 'mouth'.

To run vented disks you need to use the right calliper to accomodate the width of the disk - they have a wider 'mouth'.

So choose if you want vented or solid and source the corresponding calliper.

To run 253mm (or 'the smaller ones') diameter disks (either vented or solid) you need the bearing carrier with the corresponding sized ears to fix the calliper in the correct position.

To run 273mm (or 'the larger ones' diamter disks (either vented or solid) you need the bearing carrier with the corresponding sized ears to fix the callipers in the correct position.

So choose if you want small or big disks and source the corresponding bearing carrier.

Yes it's all about the ears if I wanted I could make some spacers ,
Anyway back to the hubs the one I thought could have fitted won't !!
Do I really have to buy used ones ? I can't belive you can get new ones for other cars for 30 odd quid ! If I could find 27 spline 4 stud ford pitch but bigger (more meaty on the shaft) I would turn the bloody things down ..
So question anyone got a hub I could buy at a reasonable price ??
Thanks

Steve .
