I'll join up with the convoy on the road that you are taking into Newport (just outside).

Back home now somewhat earlier than expected...

Thanks to everyone who stopped to help, and I hope it didn't spoil your run too much. I still can't quite figure out why the back end stepped out so much, but obviously I wasn't quick enough to catch it before landing it in the hedge. Thankfully nobody else was caught up in it. The water and the jackets to keep my daughter Maddie warm from Jon and whoever you are (sorry, I didn't get the names) are much appreciated. However, the biggest shout of thanks goes out to Lisa and Mark for going back to pick up another car so that Maddie could stay warm until the recovery arrived, and then running us all the way home to Newport. I feel very priviledged to be associated with such a friendly and caring bunch of people.
The car's going into Hilton Coachworks in the morning - hopefully they can repair it...
Mike.

Hi Mike,

As people have already said the main thing was that you and Maddie were ok.

Keep us posted as to what happens with the repair and hopefully we'll see you at another meet in the near future. You never know my Exige might even be on the road by then!!

So sorry about the car Mike.
When I saw the aftermath of that, I was pretty worried until I saw you both standing there ok.
When they step out, they can sometimes be so difficult to catch. You're not the first & you won't be the last, so don't dwell on it.
Good luck with the repairs. Glad you got back ok - well done Lisa & Mark.

Hi Mike, It always feels special when a sagaris joins in on the run-ins. I am so upset for you and know how you feel with regards the car damage. Mine suffered the same fate a few years back. I guess the biggest thing on your mind at the time was your daughter. But i'm sure she will be telling all her mates in the morning and playing on the whip lash for a while! Best of luck with the repairs, and i hope it doesn't put you off the run-ins!

Hi Mike,

So sorry you had such a bad day, but as has already been said good that you were both OK.
You should be very proud of Maddie, which no doubt you are, she is a great girl.

As for the lift, you were more than welcome, any of the guys would have done the same, they're not a bad bunch, even if they do all drive TVRs....

Hope the car gets sorted out quickly and look forward to seeing you in the near future.

Take care

Lisa

I'm really sorry to hear about your accident, glad you and your passenger are okay smile.

Just wanted to suggest an alternative to Hilton Coachworks in case you need a plan B - Plasticman on PH - based near Bedford. Might be worth dropping him a line.

Hope you're back on the road very soon! smile

Thanks to Jonathan for again organising a great run-in. We realy do appreciate your hard work Jon. These events are not as easy to arrange as some people might think.

Mike and Maddie - my son Matt and I join all the other TVR club members in wishing you well and that the Saggie can be brought back to its great condition before the crash. I was admiring it when we all met at Hertford.

Hope to see you both again soon

Steve and Matt

Sorry to see this - have to be honest in that it's unusual to see an accident on a run but if it is going to happen on one at least you can be sure of some friendly support (as opposed to beeping and wker signs if you're on your own). Where did it happen and do you know why? Glad your both OK as well, though I guess your probably both going to be a little shaken up!

I had the back of my 350 step out in a big way on Saturday and god only knows how I caught it (accelerating from 60mph off a roundabout onto a dual so I at least know why - very brown pants as well) and the face of the chap in the car I was overtaking was a picture. Big wake up call as to how slippy its getting and how cold the roads are!

You can't go wrong with Holton, very professional and they do a fantastic job

Hi all,
Many thanks for all your messages of support. The guys at Hilton are still waiting for some of the parts prices before they can complete the estimate, but as I feared the chassis needs replacing (the front top cross member is bent where the coolant and washer reservoir are mounted). With a new front end and all the labour involved it could take it close to being written off in the mind of the insurance engineer, given the salvage value of the rest of the car, but I'm determined to keep it if at all possible. Obviously the value of the car is a factor, and hopefully the low mileage combined with it being one of the last to leave the factory should keep it high enough to make the repair viable. I should know more next week...
Cheers,
Mike.
