Gazza, can you recommend some hotels in the area?
Try the Chantry or Manor Hotels in Dronfield, both of a good standard and close to bars/pubs and restaurants, approx 20 minutes drive to Chatsworth.

Any spare rooms Gazzablaugh
I have a couple of pig sheds!!

I have spoken to calver football club and they would possibly rent the field and changing rooms to a tvr gang for camping.

Places I can think of:

my fave is Fischers Hotel but expensive but amazing restaurant , Baslow. Good pubs etc nearby.
The Cavendish, again pricey and again Baslow.
The Rutland Arms pub in Bakewell. Prob ok prices but a bit shabby. Great location for evening stuff.
Chequers Inn. Close to my house. Frogatt near Calver. Prob ok prices. Reasonable food and good beer and bar. Nothing nearby.
Wheatsheaf baslow. Saw it on line but know nothin about it.
Devonshire Arms Beeley. Prob pricey for a pub but fab fab place to stay. Great food and closest to chat house. Would be my choice.

A little further afield, but with the plenty going for them in terms of restaurants and pubs are Hathersage, Hope and Castleton

And by the way Kev I would offer rooms at my house but I suspect I will be using up enough wife related favours that weekend which will require the help of mr mulberry, mr j choo etc to resolve that allowing other 'car bores' into the house will be a no no! Am I a man or a mouse? Where's the cheese.

I'm not sure anywhere is particularly cheap in the Peak District, but its worth paying more to avoid Cheswoldsmile

yes you are right, it can't be said enough, Chesterfield is not recommended. Apologies to those that live there and or like it...! I don't even like to drive through it. I have been to the town centre twice in the last few years. Still feeling the pain.

There is also Rowsley. The area is nice. A couple of good hotels there. Names of which escape me (even though I have stayed there , eaten there etc). There is also a cheap option - The Grouse and Claret.
AND there is of course Hassop Hall. Had my wedding reception there. Have also stayed there as well and eaten there. Highly recommended , beautiful setting, great rooms, great tvr parking (best in the area), good food etc also a great local pub. And it's on my mountain bike route.

Hi Gazzab, could you please let me know what Bakewell is like as I am now looking at places there. Also how far is it to Chatsworth? Thanks in advance.

Bakewell is 3 miles ish from Chatsworth. It is a lovely little town with great buildings, lots of pubs, plenty of reasonable restaurants etc..... It is the best place to stay in the surrounding area if you want more to do than look at hills and sheep.

Thank you very much for the info. Will have a look at the pubs that do accommodation around there then.

Try The Rutland Arms and The Castle Inn. Both central Bakewell. Not sure about parking at either. I havent stayed at either so cant comment on the experience !

The Ashford Arm at Ashford in the Water may also be worth a punt. 1 or 2 miles the other side of Bakewell and very pretty. There are roads x-country from Ashford to Chatsworth.

There is also the village of Pilsley - very close to Chatsworth (ie on the estate in effect) and I think they have a B&B, dont think the pub has rooms (but does great fish n chips). I know the pub plans to start doing B&B but I dont think it does just yet.

Ah that's my plan B and some of the cars with more ground clearance should be ok. I may use this option if things get a bit strained but we will see how things pan out.
Things don't seem to be as popular on this events page as they were last year when I posted on the main page, I wonder if post will start picking up nearer the date.
Sure it will be like most years, always get the hard core turning up. Then you will get the pussies like me that will wait for the weather forcast on the day.

That's okay as the hotel isn't in Chesterfield itself but on the way to Chatsworth. It's just called Chesterfield West. Thanks for the tip though.
aha that's prob the newish one. I live not far from there. It is nearer baslow than Chesterfield. Only prob is there is nothing near to it. so you can't walk anywhere to buy a paper or to go for a meal etc except for the beefeater to which it is attached. Very close to chatsworth though!
Hi Gazzab,

HWMBO has said to leave the booking as is, as we are only going to be there in the evenings (for some reason will be otherwise occupied during the day drivingwink) and will only require the hotel for food burger, drink drink and bed whistle. Thanks for your help though.wavey
