Is the 'Sprint' pretty much a straight line affair ?

Yep. There is a 'chicane' along that stretch of prom but as there's likely to be what the MSA class as 'novice' drivers they wouldn't sanction something where people would need to deal with that due to the potential for accidents.

We measured the course at the weekend and it's going to be 600m.

Might have a dabble - it's been a few years since I did a Sprint and although a full season is not financially viable at present, a one-off blast by the seaside sounds a flippin' good idea to me.

Roof off, visor up, ice cream in hand and foot to the floor biggrin

Cool thumbup
Depending on the number of entrants we're looking at 2 'practice' and 3 timed runs each.
Minimum requirements are a National B (non race) licence. Self certified medical and no other test.
Crash helmet and overalls.

So its a 600m straght from a standing start?
The 1/4 miles only 402 metres.
I hope there will be plenty of room to slow down as i reckon some cars will be topping 150 easily enough.

The guys from Longton and District MC actually wanted to do a 1/2 mile run but there wasn't enough room to brake before the 'chicane' so we've had to reduce it to the 600 to allow for braking. There's a good 200m before the 'kink' which will easily be negotiable at say 40mph if needs be, we just didn't want to include that as part of the track.

Remember this will be MSA sanctioned so they're not going to authorise anything that isn't safe.

As you probably know Dave, safety isnt top of my personal prorities rolleyes.

600m does seem a bit of a compromise half way house however.

Is it planned to just time the full run or would it be possible for other timing points such as launch to 60 foot and the more recognisable 1/4 mile point.
Also will there be a speed trap?

I'm sure there'll be a speed trap as they did time a single seater going down there at a terminal speed of 183!!!!

With regards to the other stuff I'm not sure I will ask.

Herons reach BOOKED UP.. just tried to book for Both Friday and Saturday night. Only to be told that all the rooms that the TVR club have reserved at a discounted price have gone already.. When i asked how many rooms that was , i was told 30 rooms for Fri night and not that many more for the Saturday..This amount of rooms is inadequate by far.

Can someone get the Organiser to contact the Hotel and provide more rooms at the special rate....

We have a reservation of 24 single rooms (all the available singles in the hotel) and 90 double rooms reserved for the Saturday night. As of 3pm this afternoon (Friday 12 the Feb) all 24 singles had been taken and there where 61 doubles booked for the Saturday so unless there was a sudden rush there were iro 29 Doubles still available.

As the Tickets for the Saturday included the D/D (at the insistance of the hotel) we have limited the rooms on our rate to the numbers above so that some D/D tickets are available to those either making alternative accomodation arrangements or living in the local regions and not stopping at the hotel.
