Isle of Wight Car Show 2011

The dates for this years show are Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September, this is the show`s tenth year and is more popular than ever, the organisor is planning on making this years event a bit special, and have more cars on show.

In previous years we have been limited to only 10 cars for the show, this year, at the moment I can have spaces for 15 cars, and hope in the next few weeks to be able to have this increased, fingers crossed

So for the moment I have listed those that have been the `regulars`, please let me know fairly soon if you are able to make it or not this year, and if anyone else would like to come over let me know, I hope to finalise a list of 15 definates in the next few weeks, and build a reserve list to either, replace those that may have to drop out due to a change in plans, or to add to the show list should our quota of 15 cars be increased.

I know this seems a long way off, but because this show is held on public roads (which are closed off for the show), the organisor has a fair bit of paperwork to do to keep the local council and bib happy, once the final list is sorted I will pm everyone for their cars registration numbers, full names ect.

We like to make a weekend of it, although one or two may turn up from the mainland early on the sunday morning, just to attend the show itself, our usual format is to meet up for a pub lunch/snack and natter on the Saturday lunchtime, then a drive out around the island taking in the views and our luvely bumpy roads, stopping off for ice cream, loos , photo`s ect, then saturday evening either do your own thing, or meet at a pub for a meal and drink ect.

Dnb might be able to organise a driving skills event on the saturday,(fastest person around a marked off course in a large car park), should there be enough interest and numbers for this, something we will look at at a later date.

Early start sunday morning, 8am this year, meet up for the show itself along Ryde seafront( it seems to fill up earlier each year, hence the ealier start to get good parking area.).

The TVR`s always pull avery good crowd at this event, hopefully with more cars than previous years, and the possibility of increasing the numbers to more than 15 will make this a very enjoyable event.

Also, anyone travelling over from the mainland, do NOT book car ferries yet, as the organisor will be negotiating special rates for car exhibitors, as Wightlink are one of the cars shows sponsors.
Once this rate is finalised I will give you the organisors contact details so as to obtain the ferry discount code.

yes mate, the parking is well away from the road, the hotel has its own long driveway, and cars are hidden from view from the road, a very nice place.

If you want cheap and cheerful, I will probably be staying (with mrs and knight jnr) at the Premierinn in Newport, has quite a few show attendees staying and so the carpark has quite a nice collection of cars

almost the 15 if all on the list confirm, could do with some more to start a reserve list, as I hope we may be able to get more than 15 spaces allocated, should find out in the next couple of weeks.
