If Murray's racket was the one he used to win Wimbledon it might be worth something, otherwise i cant see it hitting top price.

Certainly unrealistic IMO. They haven't taken into account the recent sale price being available to all prospective buyers - there's profit and then there is trying to be too greedy.

So yes, both. biggrin

But how much would you want a piece of history - if I won the Euromillions I'd give him 30k for that bit of victory..

I'd rather put the money in a piece of art, something that one could look at and get pleasure from. There is nothing on the lump of wood, other than a date, to say what it is. I'd just look at it and see a lump of wood regardless of what a piece of paper says. smile

Most "art" sadly I think is s***e, like those awful things the dad and daughter were trying to flog for 30k..... But a piece of HMS Victory? Wow. Just wow.

I'd be pretty poor pretty quickly if I did win the Euromillions!!

But even then what does that really mean. They use about half-a-dozen racquets in a match so which one is most valuable - the one used to hit the winning shot (assuming he did), the one used for the longest period in the match, the one used in the crucial tie break set etc.

Whilst on the Victory guided tour a month back it is clear vast amounts of the boat have been replaced/repaired or amended beyond recognition. The adjoining museum has many gift items fashioned from old bits. Quite how you prove what came from where and when seems to be the issue...but £30k is bonkers unless it has a dent from Nelson collapsing onto it.

I like the format of the programme, and the chance to watch greed meet bigger greed. Liked the sofa drop tank too.

My thoughts too. Provenance is everything when dealing such collectibles and the chap, being a collector, should know this.

Hope the old boy gets good money for his pension, but what he wants is maybe pushing his luck.
