I wonder if they can spot which part is fake?

"hello darling, I see you have gone for the natural look?"

Anyone watching?

I googled the painting and came up with this article from two years ago:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/irelan...

Times said:
The BBC has no plans to transmit the proposed programme “and we would prefer not to disclose the findings of our research team at this stage”. It refuses to name the fisherman who brought the painting to Althorp. “The gentleman filmed on Antiques Roadshow was not identified and, in line with the programme’s policy, we do not pass on contact details unless the interviewees have agreed for such a release to be made.”
More recent article here; http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/ar...

So, some guy claims he finds this painting in a rubbish dump, learns it's worth £150k and promptly sends it to auction. Original owners see their painting is listed and halt the sale. Cue years of legal battles trying to get it back. This made me laugh;

Article said:
She said she was "upset" when Blake's descendants, who live at the family home in Myrtle Grove, County Cork, stopped the sale, and said the dispute had caused a "lot of heartache, a lot of grief, a lot of money".
Yes, indeed, whatever were they thinking wanting their property back. rolleyes

Well, having established it's real, how else did you think they were going to fill in the remining 40minutes of the show? hehe

I don't know - I was rather planning on watching it and finding out.

Now I know exactly how it ends with 40 minutes to go - so like I said thanks a bunch. Now I'll have to talk to my wife. You muppet.

Greed's got the better of them. They originally only thought it was worth £30k which they were happy to take. Now they're being offered 30% and she says no?

They haven't said it was stolen have they?

Edited to add: Oh apparently it was stolen, probably, but they didn't notice at the time.

Sorry...bks.
They chucked it cos they thought it was worth nothin.

He just did and the BBC guy sais "well you don't know it was stolen".

Well, if it's theirs, and it's no longer on their property and they didn't give it away or throw it away, then how else did it get there?

From what I understand the property is a country house, I expect things could esily go missing and not be noticed.

I just threw a winning lottery ticket out. I'm going to wait for the bin men to claim the money then ask for 75% of it. I'll say it was stolen but won't call the police.

Greedy bds!

There's as much basis to that claim as saying the finder nicked it himself.

I spose. I just think the "Phone numbers didn't work, no we never got a catalogue" all sounds a bit bks to me.
They didn't give much of an crap untill they saw £100,000 in the telegraph.

Problem with that is the catalogue had the photo and the listing price so wouldn't they have made noises when they saw that rather than waiting till it went in the Telegrapoh?
