Yep, me too. Apart from the art think it must be the gamble into what could be huge sums of money.

In this instance, am not surprised Freud dismissed it as being his as is a bit of a stinker, IMO. wink

I thought that as well, but the one they went to that museum in Cardiff to compare it to (the one where it wasn't clear whether it was much smaller, or the same size but further away) wasn't much better.

I did wonder when they brought out that school photo showing John Jamieson whether the camera would scroll across loads of normal-looking boys to one that had a face the same shape as the one in the painting.

interesting programme-history behind painting should make it more expensive as it will be forever known as painting freud said he did not do but told his lawyer he had done most of it...

A new series starts this evening at 7.05.

Tonight a landscape that might be a lost painting by Constable.

Is it definitely a new series tonight as the ones on the last couple of weeks were repeats?

Edit: just checked it is a new series smile

That is my local kayaking route. I've sat floating around in that millpond more times that I can remember. Beautiful.

What a great episode and I wonder how Philips Gould really feels with it being in his possession twice and being unable to prove it authenticity at the time and selling on for £35k to his "mate"

A great programme this evening. I really thought they were going to be hugely disappointed, very happy to have been proven wrong.

Probably made life easier that there wasn't some random person/organisation that has set itself up as the sole authority on his work, and where all the provonance in the world doesn't matter if they say 'non'. Then maybe burn it to seal the deal.

Just thinking back to some of the other works they've covered & the bits that annoyed me.

Fingers crossed for this week's painting as the owners could do with a turn in luck.
