I have to admit I am really struggling with A Feast For Crows. It's energy sapping!
It was so boring. I'd like to say it pays off but it doesn't. The whole book is boring. Especially any chapters involving Briene.

Keep going though, there's a couple of really good bits. Only a couple though sadly.

I'm roughly a third through Dance with Dragons. I've been reading it the past 6 months on hardback but bought a Kindle the beginning of the week and i'm finally ploughing on with it.
Working all this weekend and Monday and Tuesday on lates so I think I may have read it by Wednesday smile

Let's hope so.

Most of Tyrion's travels could be cut from the series IMO

I have read that a lot of the books plot after a storm of swords gets very dry and long winded with not much happening.

I have them all on kindle and started with storm of swords book 1 (Just at the start of where season 3 started, with Brien and Jaime on a boat.

I knew the plot of season 4 already through accidentally reading something on Wikipedia a few years ago but after this season I don't know what happens.

Good reading though, just takes an age, the whole thing is some 5k pages!

I would have thought that would be condensed

Im excited to see if Bronn and Shae are still going to betray Tyrion as they do in the books. I think Shae will for certain, hell hath no fury etc. Bronn would be good if he did from a character point of view but would they risk breaking up the relationship. Bronn could easily be bought off by Tywin and we know that he has to refuse to champion him so will be very interesting.

Condensed sure, but I think there is important stuff that goes on on Tyrion's head. He grows.

Considering how they have allowed Shae's character to grow, I think that the recent stuff they have done with her made sense, you could see it coming a mile off. It is different in detail but in the same feeling of the book, which is what makes this adaptation so brilliant.

I didn't see Bronn's refusal (book) as a betrayal myself, a sellsword is a sellword is a sellword, and what Bronn is is always in conversation (show), especially recently, some foreshadowing going on there? I reckon they will do it in a way that we shall still feel that their relationship might be more than employer/employee...even though logically it probably isn't.
Once Tyrion goes, I reckon they will keep Bronn in the story by having him take IP's place in teaching Jaime. I hope so anyway.

Neither do I

Asking someone to face near certain death (fighting the Mountain) for you is a bit beyond normal friendship or what he was "contracted" for.

There are some great chapters in AFFC/ADWD but the two books combined progress the plot considerably less than ASOS.

I dont know, I think Tyrion had come to see Bronn as a friend and I think he will feel personally betrayed. I think thats part of what causes his character to develop?

I agree with that's how Tyrion reads it. He probably puts too much faith in Bronn, or asks for too much.

Well yeah. But you get all sorts. Doesn't mean they are right or wrong. I will say how much do you know about the Children, there could be different factions.

There are some properly weird theories on there. See if you can find the one where Jon becomes reincarnated as an ice dragon and kills Dany

After reading that thread I think they are clearly wrong. biggrin
It's like proving a negative, or in the creationism debate saying, saying 'well yeah, bananas might not have been created for humans, but show me where it says they weren't'
Deluded.

I'll look for that. The thread id mention JS against DT, which I find a trifle bizarre. I have thought myself about the juxtaposition of the red/light God that Mel chats about, and how that fits in with CotF. But there is little to go on. Everyone believes they have the real God/Gods on their side. biggrin

It's interesting to speculate but ultimately pointless. GRRM is enough of a troll to read forums and deliberately write the opposite anyway.
