I think it fits him really we'll being black, although I don't think he's meant to be in the book, he comes from quite a way North. I know there's a distinct lack of black characters in the books (can't actually think of any) so it's a good thing that they aren't cast exactly as their description.

Not seen Banshee yet. That big Indian looks good though.

I always thought of Areo as black, shows how I raced through his description. biggrin

I liked Peter Mensah for the role, perfect in my eyes.

Timeline.

Arianne Martell cut from/ not being cast in the show? Trystane will be the heir.

No Quentyn or Jon Connington or Penny either

I don't think that's the full cast list.

Halb - I'm in a HUGE arguement with a friend (he's American) who is really pissed that the show has cut Arianne and that Catlyn's role was reduced to that of concerned mother rather than the strategist behind Robb's war and that Osha is being re-written in the next books because GRRM likes what the series has done with her.

He feels the show lacks strong female characters (rolleyes)

He can't seem to comprehend that if MrM is happy for the show to cut characters like A, LadyS, JonC, Penny etc out then they can't be as crucial to the plot as the readers think, that in fact they are just 'fluffy filler'.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if those three don't make the final cast list + all of the Ironborn.

AFFC/ADWD needed drastic surgery and is getting it.

The only person I am surprised they left out is Arianne. Why have all the Dornish but not one of the most important characters there?

I agree with the above, the books had become a bit of a mess, I think GRRM knows this as well. I got the impression he wasnt happy with the way 4 and 5 turned out.

The way I see it, the Producers are massive fans of the books and they also have no reason to fk it up so you kind of have to trust they know what they are doing. Im certainly not going to lose any sleep over it.

As to not having strong women Im not sure I agree with that. Cersei and Margery wouldnt either! Even Sansa and Arya are developing into strong characters

Ironically I think Dany has been weakened in the show compared to the books.

A series with Dany, Cersei and Arya in it is hardly lacking for strong female characters. Yes Cateyln may have been weakened but to balance that out Cersei has been far less batsh*t crazy on the show.

With you 100% & that's what I'm arguing wink

He didn't like being told that he can't complain the lack of strong females in one breath & about Osha being expanded into a stronger female the next!

He sounds clueless. biggrin
I go on ASOIAF a lot, and it is filled wall to wall with morons who don't understand anything about adaptations.
I love Brienne and Arya, possibly the two strongest females on there, Arya is a likely candidate to go on and become the strongest most indomitable person in the entire thing.
The point about Robb is that he was a fantastic tactician, but st strategist, if Cat was responsible for that in the books, then she should have been fired. biggrin
There are so many strong females in GoT you could fall over them.

I've heard this one before, but I'm trying to stay away from fan theories from now until 2021 when the next book comes out. GRRM confirmed at least one of the fan theories is correct last week, but did say that only one or two people have come to a correct conclusion. My bet is on R+L, he just doesn't want to let on how widespread it is.

GRRM is a well known troll of his own fans. I won't believe anything till I either see it on TV or read it in the book.

I wouldn't put it past him to change the ending just to fk with people some more

Countless.
But GRR is a maester wordsmith, and when someone points out the descriptions of Roose...well it's interesting.
Martin chooses his words with great care and referencing.

Thanks Halb!

Did anyone else see the article that the Iron Islands sub plot and Kings Moot has not been included in Season 5?

I thought the whole point of it was the send the fleet of shops out to Dany? How is Dany going to get back now without the Iron Islamds fleet?
