Well, I for one am looking forward to this.

PJ at the helm - was there any other real choice? Two films, a reprise of some of the LOTR cast (although many of them aren't in the book!)....

what's not to like!?

should be a 10/10

I am hoping it will be a hell of a lot better than his other LORT stuff.
With a more basic story and characterisation, he might manage it.
He is bumping it into two films by filing all the other stuff that goes on at the same time but we only find out aboot in TLOTR appendices and supplementary stories.
Bit stupid really as the Hobbit and TLOTR are two very different books.
But PJ is the maestro here, not Tolkien!biggrin

I thought he did LOTR as well as he could considering it was on film. The actual book, as a script, could go on for days otherwise. Looking forward to the film. Haven't read anything about it after all the shennanigans in the early stages.

Why is it two films? I can't remember it being that long a book.

The one sentence I glazed over contained the facts! biggrin

Still think it's a silly idea though.

As do I, but I'm not charge, ho-hum.

So we get Gandalf waltzing off to deal with the Necromancer on the trail of Thror...I think? Plus a meeting of the white council...and other stuff I can't rememberbiggrin Probably get the meeting of the goblins at Gunabad, the Dwarves gathering at the Iron Hills, Elves at Mirkwood, al the stuff that is only recalled in the book.

That 'young' Gandalf doesn't bode well, hope it's just Empire being stupid. The Hobbit is only 60 odd years before...I think, and the Istari have been knocking around for a 1000...I think.

Gandalf
Sauraman
Radaghast
The Blue Wizards...one may be called Allando which was his Maia name back in the Undying lands.

I know Gandalf was Olorin, but I didn't wish to put his name and not the others, I couldn't remember Whiteys one.
Annatar was Whitey?

Allatar and Pallando...those names were doing my head in...but most causal readers of the books wouldn't know. They went into the East...I like to think they did other work in the rest of the continent that the stories don't touchbiggrin

Annatar was Sauron. When he still took fair form and deceived others to do his will. Numenorean era.

some geek kids told me while i was pushing them in a puddle and taking their dinner money then doing dead big skids on my bike to impress girls.
