I'm on mobile so can't use spoilers ..., but...

Captain used to be in the military and was involved in destroying a installation for WMD that went tits up due to an accident

The biologist found a large worm creature which was harmless (it seems) and the crew all were around as they placed it in a container. So finding a larger one later was not a shock.

David was asked by Weyland to tell the engineer that he was a robot and that Weyland, like the engineer, was a god because he created an immortal creature.

Edited to add spoiler formatting.

Amazon dropped this through the letter box the other day and watched it last night.

Actually I thought it was quite good but after an hour of building into what could have been a good conclusion just didn't.

I'm sure I read somewhere that there was a choice of alternative beginning/endings on the DVD? There wasn't on mine just the deleted scenes which when you watch after the film don't really add any value.

Only on Bluray, probably not enough space on the DVD.

I really, really enjoyed watching Noomi Rapace and not just becuse I fancy her.
I thought I recognised her from something else, did a google and let's just say that the result on Dailymotion is NSFW laugh

I'm a big fan of Alien and Aliens, and finally watched Prometheus last night. It was a reasonably entertaining watch, but overall it was let down by a sloppy plot and mediocre script.

I could ask about the multitude of plot holes, but I'll stick with one for the moment: Why did the Engineers 'invite' humanity to LV-223? As this was a military installation, and their intention was to wipe out humanity, then why bother?

Maybe we were not invited. Maybe the message was " we live here, don't even think about it"!

You use something other than iphone?

Those are good answers, and really should not have been left out of the finished feature, madness to do so.

Watched the blu ray last night, and its still a lovely to look at film, but avgain i found by the third act i wanted to shout at the TV again, mainly from Fifields attack bit.

So i watched the deleted scenes, these make the film make a lot more sense, fleshing out some bits that were vague before, some didnt add a huge amount.

The main bonuses were the new Fifield attack, its basically the same scene but he looks different, and in a way that has echoes of our fave Xenomporph!

The scene where they all meet the engineer is cheanged slightly with more dialogue, again just adds a few bits.

Why these scenes werent in the main film i dont know, would have made me happier about some of it. though the rolling alien ship is still daft!

Looking forward to the sequal, as Oscar Wilde said, hope is the first sign on the road to dissapointment"

That's exactly what I thought! Why they didn't include them I don't know, especially the one which explains why the engineer rips David's head off. rolleyes

I do wonder sometimes if these people need an 'independent' appraisal of the editing. You can be too close to a project and with the whole experience of writing, filming & editing, you sometimes fail to see through the eyes of someone seeing your film for the very first time and with no background context.

Too many writers spoilt the film, then scott took stuff out or didnt even shoot it, then the marketing people got involved, and Promethius was the result. They just didnt think it through enough.

It was still good to watch in 3D, hopefully they will get the next one right.. that is unless the engineers come to earth and wipe us out first biggrin Or maybe whoever made them will wipe them out first.. or maybe we will wipe everything out with our hadron collider biggrin

Isn't it more the case where the director makes the film and then the studio says "It's too long. Chop half an hour out" and then that's the result?

So from someone who really wanted the film to be good, saw it at the cinema, was very impressed visually but left very frsutrated at the plot holes, should you buy the extended endition Blueray? Or will I feel even more cheated for throwing even more money away?

Uuuuuh... I'd hazard a guess at the following:

TWO DISC DIRECTORS CUT SPECIAL EDITION aka GIVE US MORE MONEY YOU C*NTS.

We can only speculate. Probably some creative luvvie just hit on the idea of using cave painting themes from Däniken's ancient aliens and they had to shoehorn it into the plot.
More like it was a suit. The creative luvvies give us the goods, the suits make it st.

Yes.
