Trust me Halb, it doesn't improve with repeat viewing. God knows I've tried...
Been there too - t-shirt received! It does improve but only because ones expectations diminish accordingly Hmm... the poster (and the forthcoming film) makes me think:
Ridley: Im a brilliant director, responsible for Alien, and im going to make a different sci-fi film partially based in the same Alien universe but not involving the Alien.
Everyone: yay! But we'd really like another Aliens film.
Ridley: Oi, Scriptwriter - shoehorn an Alien in at the end for no logical reason.
Scriptwriter: Yes boss.
[Prometheus is released]
Everyone: Looked pretty, but made no sense.
Ridley: Scriptwriter - stop writing Prometheus 2 and do something about Aliens. Marketing sthead, you know the Aliens poster? Yeah - do another one like that, they'll love it.
Everyone: Yay!

No way im going to let myself get excited about this after Prometheus!
The poster sent a chill of excitement down my spine. Then your post reminded me not to get my hopes up. But like someone in an abusive relationship I'll give Ridley another chance to prove he knows how to make us love him again. SpudLink said:

You remember the totally unrealistic would never happen in real life scene in Prometheus where they ran away from a toppling spaceship in the direction it was falling?
It's a running joke in CinemaSins: "the Prometheus school of running away from things.".A couple of weeks ago some on set photos were leaked which showed some of the props, prosthetics etc. These were later removed at the request of Fox - they included proper xenomorphs, face huggers, you name it. It looked promising, and still does. Whether it undoes the wrongs of Prometheus, unlikely - but it appears to be bridging the gap between Prometheus and Alien, with a big lean towards proper Alien. Exciting and quite relieved
To be fair I don't really have a problem with the falling spaceship scene that everybody else seems to. It's not really everyday that a spaceship falls on your head so who knows how your brain would react but I'd imagine it wouldn't really be rational enough at that point to think, if I run this way I'll have a better chance. I reckon it would be more like FUUUCCC.... A SPACE SHIP IS FALLING ON MY HEAD...RUUUUNNN!
I actually think it's one of the less stupid parts especially compared to some of the other totally bizarre and illogical things that happen throughout the rest of the movie.

I was always far more bothered with the scientist who finds that cobra like thing and decides the best thing to do is touch itI actually think it's one of the less stupid parts especially compared to some of the other totally bizarre and illogical things that happen throughout the rest of the movie.

That snake part is terrible, almost as bad as the main protagonist who becomes a clinically depressed alcoholic six hours in because the first site they've found only has dead aliens inside.
Very poor (IMHO) film.
Looks at 127 page thread (and counting) which is basically 99% slating the film.Very poor (IMHO) film.
Yeah you could be right.
I'm cautiously looking forward to this, the way I see it - worse case and it's another turd then Neill Blomkamp's go at it is due in 2018. If that's also a turd I'm prepared to say that it's one of those times when, even when you think you've got the best ingredients in the world, no one can knock a decent omelette out of it and we call it a day.
