It looks dire! Cowboy hat, spaceship going to investigate, 'ooo look at the funny egg opening up, splat!' Sadly it has disappointment written all over it.
The early films would never do such a thing

He was a miner and he had his helmet on too.

He didn't stick his bare face over it.

Looks like a reboot of the first Alien with a few more twists and cool bits. I will reserve ultimate judgement until i see it though, can't be any worse than prometheus surely?....

I think they've given away a lot in the trailer which will water down some of the shocks, not good.

Yep this. With the exception of Ash (who we know had an agenda anyway) - the rest of the crew were essentially miners and truckers and were dealing with something that was well beyond them.

How the crew dealt with his 'infection' was quite believable considering, with Ripley trying to enact Quarantine procedure, them performing proper scans before deciding what to do and performing slow considered attempts at surgery.

Prometheus on the other hand. "We're the best scientists, archaeologists etc in our field, hand picked for this mission - so lets all take our helmets off and breath alien air, contaminate what could be a millennium old alien archaeological site, touch alien snakes 'coz they look cute innit' - then when we find a preserved alien head from the first space faring species we know exists in the entire universe besides humans - lets just waltz it back to our ship and electrocute the st out of it - just for LOLz".

The AVP films never happened. Nope. Never happened. Don't bother pointing me towards IMDB links. It's all just lies.

So the trailer basically makes it look like a poor Alien reboot, put me firmly in the underwhelmed camp for this one.

More interested in Alien 5 now, I really hope they ignore the god awful mistakes that were Alien 3 & 4 and get Hicks and more importantly the Marines back in the fight.

I met Michael Biehn this month, older obviously, but still lean and hale.
I also watch the Terminator at the pics last month, wow, I had forgotten just what amazing shape he was in, in his youth. There are two amazing physiques in The Terminator.

Alien Covenant - new trailer - much, much better. Gives a real feel for the film.

I'll repeat what I said a few posts above, it looks like a beat for beat reboot of Alien and I really can't see anything original or exciting there. I'm starting to think this franchise is cursed.

im sure im about to get buried here

but why does know one in this future know about these aliens ?

I mean they can fly to other planets but don't document the horrors ?

with you tube and the internet ;-) this horrific alien and what they do must travel the news like wildfire ?

Same feeling here, it feels like an Alien reboot with a new Alien Creature "reboot" also thrown in (the backbuster/white alien).

It seems like no-one had a clear vision with what to do with the franchise, or at least thats how it looks so far. Maybe after the film is released we'll get a different sense of the film but currently, and despite being a massive Alien fanboy, this isn't filling me with hope for the "trilogy".
