If you don't want to see the (probable) new Alien in Prometheus then DON'T click this link:

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/debbiedowne...

I did and wish I hadn't as I wanted the new film to 'hit me' like the original Alien film did when I first saw it.
hang on you didnt realise the space jockey looked like that from the first film?
Yeah...thats kinda given the game away...you might want to put your comment in a spoiler tag as I have above as some people might not want to know that. Here's my reply:

No, I've been led top believe the space jockey you saw in the first film was actually only his 'space suit' not his actual form. Ridley himself intimated that. It still might be the case but that resin caste kinda goes against that.

hows it a spoiler you see it in the trailer !!
No you don't. You see the 'petrified' Space Jockey head in the trailer in the Laboratory scene yes? Now read on...

I quote from the website:

"The image does look a bit like a Space Jockey but with some differences… the jutted out jaw looks very Xenomorph style and the top part of the skull screams ‘facehugger’ whilst this is apparently being worn by somebody in the film! Who could it be?

Now a similar design does feature in the trailer (at 00.35 seconds, and looks like the head of the Space Jockey seen in ALIEN) but the one here is smaller, human-sized and designed specifically for an actor to wear and described as the face design for ‘the alien’. There’s that mysterious humanoid figure in the trailer at 0.44 seconds but it’s not clear enough to tell what its face looks like."

Please go back and edit your post as you may be spoiling this for others.

That trailer is also apparently not the full trailer which will be released at 4pm Pacific Standard Time.

Ridley and Lidelof (the writer) will be giving an accompanying talk and Q & A session on the film at WonderCon after the trailer is shown.

I'm sure the trailer will be on-line almost immediately but the Q & A session is more problematic.

First person to post a link to it gets a...er...um..."well done". smile

Not an Alien prequel, my arse.

So excited about this. woohoo
Whilst I agree its very like an 'Alien' its rather more like one of many of Gigers paintings depicting creatures like (but NOT actually) the classic 'Alien'.

Now clearly the alien spacecraft shown ARE from the original Alien film as is the Space Jockey so I your point still stands.

As was discussed earlier in the thread, Aliens canon says that the 'Space Jockys' were the ones who bred the Xenomorphs (as we know them from the original films) as a weapon, and that weapon got out of control and bugged out into the Universe to cause the havok we know well.

New trailer looks ossum though, really looking forward to it.
That canon come from the comics?
I read the Dark Horse comics and that wasn't a storyline I recall.

I do however agree that the premise outlined by Brigand has been mentioned many-many times over the years as a possible story-arc.

Nasty face on this fellow..

Watching this bit in the preview I hadn't twigged that this was a non-human! I thought it might be one of the crew who was going through some kinda transformation.

If thats the Space Jockey then I'm disappointed.

Skii said:
Facehugger or something similar ?

Not seeing that at all...just a translucent being laying on some bit of kit.

Potential Issue I Might Have With This Film

I have to say that the premise of Humans being seeded by Aliens is also a bit of a 'groan' moment for me.

This storyline has been done-to-death in Sci-Fi (most recently Stargate IIRC) and I REALLY REALLY hope Ridley has a different take on this particular plot line 'cos otherwise thats not a very original idea.

In the original Alien film (and later to be cut from the final release) the Xenomorph was creating the 'goo' for the eggs or even the eggs themselves by 'boiling down' the humans - Ripley kills Dallas to save him from further agonies.

I wonder if this aspect of Alien will tie-in with the Prometheus story line?

I thought in the Directors cut Dallas and Brett were mutating into the eggs themselves.
I always took it that the xemomorph had started the process of mutation by using some kind of secreted goo or fluid as Dallas appears shoulder deep in it within the egg.

yikes OMG, I really am becomming a geek biggrin

ETA: Having just seen the scene again perhaps I'm wrong about the Goo.

Still on the topic of the Space Jockey, in Alien didn't Dallas (or whoever) say that the creature seemed to 'grown in the chair' or 'part of the chair' or something similar as they couldn't see where the SJ ended and the chair began?

For continuity sake Ridley will have to stick with this surely.

Has the UK release date been set?
Certainly in the US its June 8th but, and I don't know if I believe this or not, in the UK it might be a week earlier on 1st June.

Frankly, as its been made at Shepperton, by a Brit Director and with a mainly Brit cast and crewed by UK techs I'd say it would only be fair if we got the movie earlier than the yanks for once. Although I appreciate that its their $$$'s that fund it.

ETA: This site seems to confirm those dates: http://www.prometheusmovienews.com/
