Here's another featurette with, apparently, even more unscene footage:

http://io9.com/5909046/new-prometheus-featurette-s...

As the article accompanying it hints at, I too am starting to thnk we're been shown too much of the film now.

I post the link for those that can't get enough of this film - which included me, up to a point and I think I've now reached that point.

Where abouts, Brighton? Crawley don't seem to be showing it frown
Crawley!

Here: http://www.cineworld.co.uk/films/5237

On the right hand side select Crawley from the 'Cinema' drop down menu then select the date from the drop down menu.

Cgi space ships still look crap

Bring back models
I'd be very surprised if the ships in a Ridley Scott big-budget film are CGI'd. He's on record as saying he ALWAYS prefers models over gaphics. He even makes full scale models of the ships landing gear etc.

At some point they'll be a making of documentary etc etc and then we'll probably know but dont forget that you can also do partial model/partial effect shots.

Ie: Ship is a model, Afterburners and smoke etc is CGI.

We'll see.

The 'ship' is a indeed a massive conundrum.

scratchchin...are we being deliberately mis-directed by Ridley and Damon who insist this film DOES NOT lead into the Alien film?

We might be.

Do not view this (officially released) still picture if you don't want a (possibly) massive spoiler...

...although it could equally be interpreted as something completely different.

Alien Takes place on LV-426, Prometheus takes place on LV-223. Two different planets.
I've read that to yes but have we officially been told its LV-223?

Or, perhaps the closing scene describes how "in the years that followed" LV-223 was re-named LV-426?

The problem I have is that there are now so many similarities coming out of the woodwork that if it isn't the same ship then they'd better do a damn fine job explaining all of the coincidences away.

Thats just a blog - NOT official confirmation. He says as much half-way down the article when in his analysis of the clip he's seen he says "So what did we learn? Nothing massively earth shattering, though many peoples’ suspicions that the movie does not take place on LV-426 appear confirmed."

Skii said:
Also the Ship in alien is clearly perched in a very rocky outcrop and looks a very different and more Alienesque environment than the Prometheus one
I'll give you that one - the terrain appears different but not to the point of being conclusive - just probable.

I think I'm gonna have to ignore this thread on Thursday 31st May and Friday 1st June as I suspect someone may just post up the first reviews of the film from the press who are usually allowed to see the film a day or two before the rest of us in order to get their critique of it into the papers on the day before it is released to the masses.

Also, I'm sure some of you may go to the 00:01 screeing of the film on the Friday morning and be posting your reviews before the rest of us have seen it.

Can I please ask that you use the {spoiler} tag if you're going to do this.

Well blow me! (please).

Thats 29 pages (or 580 posts) about a film thats still days away from release - a pre-release thread record on PH surely?

Lets just hope that statistic isn't inversely proportional to the quality of the film.

Roll on Friday.

Oh, just read an interview with Damon Lindelof about the possibility of a follow-up:

"One of the things we've always said, that makes Prometheus not a direct prequel of Alien, is that if there were a sequel to Prometheus – and, God willing, there will be if people like it – then it will not be Alien. This film ends in a way that goes off at a different tangent to the original Alien. If you see Alien straight after, you will see it in a context that didn't exist for you before, but it's not going to do anything to change the story of Alien. Prometheus has to go off in its own new bold direction, and hopefully it does so. Ridley certainly wants to do more."

Please don't post the French Film Critics Reviews until after the release of the film on Friday as:

1. They're French
2. They prefer 'Arty' stuff
3. They are judging it against Alien/Aliens
4. They generally don't like SF even cerebral SF
5. Most reviews have been run through Google-translate
5. Did I mention, they're French

Alternately use the /spoiler function.
